Hoax
Prologue Taehyung’s POV The night was thick with rain, a storm that mirrored the chaos in his head. Taehyung stood at the edge of his father’s grave, the same grave where his world had shattered years ago. Kim Min-jae. A man who was supposed to be his protector. A man who destroyed everything in his path, and now, even in death, still haunted him.
His small fists had clenched that day, as a ten-year-old, hearing the whispers around him—those same words he couldn’t forget. "Min-jae brought it upon himself." "His son will grow up to be just like him."
But Taehyung swore that day, staring down at the casket, that he would never be like his father. Not in the way he lived, not in the way he destroyed. He’d never let anyone see the same darkness his father had left him with.
The years had passed, and he’d kept that promise. In his own way, he'd become cold, distant—a ghost in the world his father had left behind. But some promises come with a price. Taehyung learned that the hard way.
The phone call came three days ago. A name. Y/N.
He didn’t know her, but he’d heard whispers—about her family, her father, the debts, the dangerous ties. Her father had been a part of his father's business, and now the debt had passed on to her, whether she liked it or not.
Taehyung’s mind shifted back to the rain. It had always been like this. The cold, relentless rain. Reminding him of the things he couldn’t forget. Reminding him of the people who had betrayed him, and the ones who’d owe him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N’s POV Y/N had never asked for this life.
Her father had been a man of power, a man who controlled things that weren’t meant to be controlled. And when he fell, everything he left behind fell with him. The debts, the enemies, the broken promises.
But that wasn’t her fault. She didn’t choose any of it. She didn’t choose to inherit his mistakes. But she would be the one to clean it up.
The night had been quiet at first. Y/N had spent the evening organizing her paintings for the exhibition she’d worked months on. She didn’t even care about the rain—she was too focused on getting everything ready. Her mind distracted, heart racing with the pressure to be perfect.
But then, as the rain began to pour harder, she had received a message. A name she’d heard only in passing. Taehyung.
The name was tied to her father’s past—too many dangerous connections, too many promises made. She’d tried to ignore it. But the truth always caught up.
She found herself walking through the narrow streets of the city, clutching her paintings like they were the only thing that mattered. But she wasn’t safe. The world she was walking into was a trap, and she was just too naive to know it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taehyung’s POV The first time they met wasn’t a coincidence. It never was. She had no idea who he really was, no idea who her father had tangled her with.
He could see the fear in her eyes when she first saw him—the hesitation, the uncertainty. She was trying to be brave, but she wasn’t. She didn’t realize yet just how deep this game went.
Taehyung didn’t care. He had a plan, and she was just a piece of it. He’d make sure she understood who was in control, just like his father had taught him. But there was something about her—something that made him hesitate. He hated her. He should. He’d been taught to hate people like her.
But there was something else there, too. Something familiar. Something that pulled him in. It confused him. But that didn’t matter. He had to stay focused. He only had one goal. Revenge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N’s POV She didn’t know why, but the moment she crossed paths with him, she could feel it. The way his presence changed everything. Like a storm that took away everything in its path. She wasn’t ready for him, for whatever he was about to bring into her life.
She didn’t trust him. She couldn’t. But there was something about the way he looked at her, as if he knew every secret she’d been hiding. Something that made her feel small. She couldn’t let him win. She wouldn’t.
But the feeling didn’t go away. She didn’t know what he wanted, or why he cared, but she would fight back. For herself, and for the life she wanted to build. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taehyung’s POV As the rain poured down, Taehyung watched her from the shadows. She didn’t know it yet, but her life was about to change. And she’d have no choice but to walk down this path with him.
But for now, he’d let her play her games. He knew how this worked. He had to let her believe she had some control.
Because in the end, no one could outrun their fate. And hers was tangled up in his. Taglist @themwordsblog @kim2203
