I have a question about the cortical patch and I figured you would be a best person to ask. When Bumblebee patched Megatron and when Megatron patched Starscream, there was like a base imaginary world and the person was in there and could be talked to, and that's how they got information from them. Megatron was able to activate Screamer's memories against his will and see them but it didn't seem like Be knew he could do that. Is it always like that? What was Arcee's brain-world like?

Your assumption was correct.

The world inside of one's mind is frequently referred to as a mindscape. Some have more detailed mindscapes than others. Broadly speaking, a mindscape is the collected conscious and unconscious processes that make up the mind of a Cybertronian. The patch allows outside access to the mindscape, and if the subject is unconscious there is the potential that the subject is unaware that they are having information extracted from them.

Time and trauma have had their toll. There are areas I can no longer recall in detail, and that is reflected in my mindscape as a burnt out light that I cannot fix. It is part of why I catalogue my memories whenever I am able to, and part of why I created the patch in the first place. I did not intend for it to be an interrogation tool, though it rapidly became one. I had used it to extract subjective experience from test subjects that I could not track otherwise, diagnose processor errors, and create backups of my own memories for cross-referencing.

As for if it is always "like that"? No. The methods vary.

My methods are precise and analytical. I have no need to speak to the conscious or subconscious mind of my subject. I can simply access and take what I need. I never saw Arcee's mindscape. I bypassed her consciousness entirely. This is a technique that only someone as familiar with its idiosyncratic nature as I am is capable of performing. Misuse can lead to processor damage or death.

Megatron, as much as I admire him, is a showman. He is incapable of not attempting to assert dominance whenever possible. That is why his use of the patch manifested as an interrogation where he was able to force Starscream to recall other memories.
