TALON PEAKS

— STORY NOTES

Groups of cats will be referred to as chowders or colonies. Though these characters are part of a group known as TalonClan in Clangen itself, I will be referring to them as members of the Talon Peaks chowder/colony.

“Medicine cat” as a term will be replaced by Herbalist.

— GAME NOTES

I am playing a completely vanilla save of Clangen. No settings or preferences have been changed. (Mostly because I have no idea how I would even do that, or what I would change it to.)

Mass extinction events are ON

Mated cats can have affairs

Unmated cats can breed

Cats can have kittens with unknown second parent

Increased same-sex adoption is ON

Leaders automatically select new deputies

When you're setting the camera angle, you want the horizon line (the point of convergence) to be towards the TOP of the canvas. This creates a feeling of looking up at something/being loomed over by the subject. The light source coming from above is also incredibly important, especially in the colouring stage. Framing is huge! By having your mountains create a natural sort of boundary that curves inwards, it helps add to that feeling of the viewer being closed in - because, in a way, they are. Colouring is mostly personal preference, but I recommend keeping the darker values on the bottom and creating a base gradient where the values go from darkest to lightest, emphasizing the lightest on the peak/closest to the horizon. The sketch I have above is incredibly rushed, but you can see that because of the lighting and colouring, the focal point is towards the top of the canvas. That makes everything feel small in comparison.
