cleon raised an eyebrow at the brunette, hesitating at first. it was always fun being around lucinda, but most often she meant only trouble. not that cleon couldn’t appreciate that, it was just that his mind had been elsewhere lately. perhaps he’d forgotten to have fun inbetween his sulkin and plotting of some people’s demise. “they don’t? something tell me i should trust you, talkalot.” the burke mused, but picked a card anyway. “alright then. what does it mean?”
“i suppose you’ve got no other choice.” lucinda mused, watching cleon pick a card before she took it from his hands. “interesting.” the girl observed, raising an eyebrow. “the hermit. he stands alone on top of a mountain. you’re taking a break from your everyday life to draw your energy and attention inward and find the answers you seek, deep within your soul. the hermit invites you to retreat into your private world and experience a deep sense of seclusion and introspection. you know that you need to take this journey alone or with few, trusted people.” the girl read through the small guide in her hands; she still hadn’t quite memorized what each card meant. “i suppose that’s why you haven’t left the dorms in a while. i wonder -- does this have to do with a certain someone?” lucinda hinted, unable to stop herself from doing so. anyone who didn’t notice the way that cleon looked at alecto carrow had to be a damn fool. if anything, she was just glad to see the burke feel something for once.
lucinda was bored out of her mind at the library; she was already failing one or two of her classes, but for some reason the girl found it unable to focus on the exhaustingly boring book in front of her. suddenly she got a new idea and took out a deck of cards out of her bag, shuffled them and sprawled them on the table in front of her. her muggle friends in london did teach her a thing or two; it was somewhat of a party trick but luci didn’t see the harm in doing it right now. she had gotten better in reading the cards lately. “pick a card.” the brunette urged the person sitting in front of her, lips spreading upwards into a smile. “go on -- they won’t bite.”

lucinda is the result of a one-night stand between lorena talkalot and armin haddad. her mum was a barmaid at hogsmeade and her dad the son of the lebanese minister of magic. the affair had caused quite the scandal for the haddad family and they were quick to find armin a proper wife. he had to start a family of his own and tone down the whispers.
lorena was too busy with work or doing merlin knows what, while armin had his new family to take care of. he’d occasionally send a birthday card to lucinda, his firstborn daughter but otherwise wasn’t really present in her life.
lucinda’s childhood was quite lonely. tw neglect sometimes lorena wouldn’t come home for days at a time, leaving her daughter to fend for herself. luci would write letters to her father every week, dreaming of how one day he’d let her visit the haddad manor and eventually would let her stay; that one day she’d have a family. when armin didn’t respond luci would convince herself that something had happened with her owl; but he returned each time. perhaps the letter had gotten lost and that’s why her father never responded. it took her a few years to realize that her father just didn’t want to respond. end of tw
hogwarts was lucinda’s saving grace. the friends she found there were the family she never had. lucinda wore her heart on her sleeve for the first years and that inevitably caused her some heartbreak. it was when she realized one shouldn’t get attached to people too easily, because they would one day leave or betray you. she wouldn’t let anyone get too close; she’d leave before anyone got the chance to hurt her while craving love and affection at the same time, but depriving herself from it.
lucinda indulged in her party girl persona, which was sort of a way to get attention. she’d sneak out into muggle london, party all night, make bad decisions, ink her skin in hopes that her mother would pay attention. tw abuse and she did, but never the good kind. she’d lash out, get physically abusive, speak cruel words, but this was good enough to lucinda. end of tw
one of lucinda’s biggest passions was quidditch. she made it in the team in second year and by fourth she’d already secured her spot as a captain. but her lifestyle and her work ethic didn’t seem to agree. tw mental health lucinda would spend the night partying, wake up too hangover to do anything or simply unable to get out of bed. she had a tendency to self-sabotage a lot and her losing her position as a captain and a chaser of the quidditch team was one of them. end of tw
while she does end up hurting people a lot, it usually isn’t lucinda’s intention to do so. at the end, she just ends up looking after herself, protecting her own feelings.
she took an interest to the dark arts during her sixth year. at first it was a mean for protection and perhaps vengeance, but she ended up being genuinelly fascinated by them.
to most, lucinda seems quite easy-going. she’s easy to talk to, fun to be around and she doesn’t let people get too close. while she has a wide social circle, it’s hard to stay friends with both aspiring death eaters and muggleborns. times are changing and people are taking sides, while lucinda refuses to do so.
