“I am grOOT.” [Well aren’t you small.] Groot said with a lightness to his voice that could make anyone feel like they were being adored by a talking tree thing. Groot reached out to pat the boy’s head fondly. The talking tree thing knew that this wasn’t the Spider-man he knew already, but any hero to Earth is a friend of Groot’s… or so he hoped so.

Miles looked at Groot amazed, was he really in front of one of his favorite heroes. “H.. Hi?“ he told him not really sure how not to sound like a fan boy. “I am Spider-man“ he introduce himself but he was pretty sure the costume gave that away.

“I am Groot?” [So you both are called the same?] Groot asked and pointed to Spider-man’s emblem in the middle of his costume. Then he pointed a finger in the air, telling Spider-man to wait a moment while Groot fetched a device hidden in the roots of his left leg. The sleek silver translator looked delicate in Groot’s hands as the talking tree thing fumbled for the on switch, giving the device a moment to activate before saying, “I am GrOOt.” [Hello, Spider-man]

The little machine whirrled and clicked before saying in a mechanical feminin voice. ‘Hello Spider-man’. Groot let out a hum in satisfaction and looked over to Spider-man with a smile.

Groot waited patiently for as long as he could for everyone to get up and out of their beds so the day can start. He even went as far as growing a few of his favorite fruits from the places he’s been and setting them in a bowl for everyone to enjoy. He loved being surrounded by his friends, if only they woke up faster.

Growing impatient, Groot made his way to Carol’s sleeping area and opened the door. He strolled right in to the edge of the bed and peaked his head under the cover to find Carol’s face. “I am Groot.” [Goodmorning Carol.] He said gleefully with wave.

Carol wasn’t in the mood to get out of the bed, it felt so warm so she just turn around and went back to sleep, half hour later she felt something on her bed, she looked at it and smile it was Groot. “Good morning Groot, have you been up for long?” She asked as she rubbed her eyes, she decided it was time to get up so she stretched her arms and jumped off the bed. “Let’s go have some breakfast” she told her friend leaving her room and going into the kitchen.

Groot got out of Carol’s bed covers very happy with the response he got. He was certain that if he went to Rocket’s bed that his friend would kick him in the face, or maybe just say something obscene and continue sleeping. “I am groot!” [I’ve been waiting for someone to say that all morning!] He stated excitedly and happily made his way back to the eating area. “I am GrOOt. I AM groot. I am Groot?” [I’ve made some fruit. They are very delicious, some of my favorites really. Would you like something to drink?] At the last statement, Groot pointed over to the coffee machine, looking back at Carol with a questioning look.

At this point in time he was certain only the trees were listening to him because no one else understood him. The trees however laughed at Groot’s story and so with a smile he turned to his left and was surprised to find someone else sitting besides him.

“I am groot?” [Are you sure it will be alright?] Groot asked in a hushed tone as he passed the now wilting plant over. A few clumps of dirt were still clung to by desperate roots, and Groot began to worry that the little plant wouldn’t survive at all. He hoped however, that his friend can defy the odds.

Groot had his eyes closed as he was taking a walk around central park in New York, he was listening in on the trees. His fellow Guardians and Rocket were discussing something or rather with the Avengers. Normally Groot would stay for the meeting since he couldn’t trust Rocket to summarize well enough, but outside it was spring! Groot loved spring when everything was growing again. Trees would wake from their naps and began budding with new life.

At some point in the walk Groot stopped moving and if no one else took notice of the details, Groot seemed like any other tree, especially to dogs. More specifically to one dog who needed to relieve himself. “I am Groot!” Groot shouted, offended by the sudden liquid on his foot.
