Imagine reading/watching the story of an adult who, for his entire life, has felt nothing but hatred and disgust for human beings.  This adult is living in the lingering shadow of his father, an individual who was not only powerful but who fell in love with a human himself and bore a son with her.  The adult struggles with not only wishing to surpass his father, but to understand why his father would ever give even a thought to the well-being of humans.  Imagine you witness this adult carry this intense loathing and superiority of his own being until he encounters a small human child.  This child has witnessed the slaughter of her parents and family, and has been orphaned in a world full of terrors both human and non-human alike.  She is alone and without any parental/familial guidance, and as soon as she finds this adult she instantly latches on to him to not only care for him, but to be protected herself.  Imagine seeing this adult allow the small, shadowed part of himself to have sympathy for this child, and allows her to follow him on his travels.  Throughout these travels, the adult slowly begins to understand what it means to be selfless, and what it means to care for the well-being of those other than himself.  In turn, the little girl is given a renewed sense of protection and faith in adults.  Motherless and fatherless, she is given a protector in this sudden father-figure.  Imagine seeing this adult come to terms with the actions of his own father and discover what it means to care for humans and to protect them, and to become someone in his own right.  Imagine seeing him become like his father in the most parental of ways, and imagine seeing him assume this beautiful, tender role of becoming a father-figure.  Imagine seeing this wonderful story of this new-found family between this once hateful adult and lonely child and you think to yourself–
