I’m never certain nowadays whether I’m just getting very old or if climate change is bad enough to fry my processor. One of these days something will have to give. I wonder if I could be happy growing plants in cold climates…

Gemini follows Top, trying his best not to look amused. Top wasn’t amusing. He wasn’t enjoying this. But he looks at the elevator with a critical eye, will it even take their combined weight? Well, that is the point of adventure. He finally shrugs and steps on. “Lead on, Top.”Â
He stands in the elevator as the door closes and feels it lurch downwards. “This is a huge floating island correct? Do you think anything is flooded?” He was water tight, sure, but salt could easily wreck havoc on his crystalline layers. “I wonder if any of the other generations are down here…hidden away in the dark. Keep your guard up, Top. Not all DWN’s see us as their own.”Â
The elevators aren’t like the ones inside office buildings; these were designed and reinforced to carry tons. Large and spacious like the kind of lifts that carry cars. The elevator was rather dim itself, the glowing buttons barely providing light. As it rattles down, Top flips his flashlight function on and sighs, “Gemini, please. I know. How old are we now? They’ve made themselves clear, especially to “runts” like us. If we keep our lights on, we can see properly. And if someone tries to ambush us, have your clones distract them while I get us out of there.”
They’re almost there, an eerier silence filling the elevator. Something about the dark always spooked the smaller bot, even as a robot who spent his birth year in the dark trenches of space. Â
Humming quietly to himself, he tries not to look nervous. They can do this, they’ve done it before. What could possibly go wrong? The shaft continues to hum and creak.
He follows up, “I may not be not strong, but I am fast. If you’re worried about the elements, my armor is plenty resistant. I’ll advance where you can’t.” He was going to offer to protect him, but both knew how silly that would have been.
