Finally!! 😅😅 Gosh, I really have a loooonngg way to catch up. Can I do it? 🤷♂️ idk.
Anyway, finally I can reread this favorite volume of mine.
Volume 3 got Yor as the cover 🥰
As I've stated before, it is interesting to see, that unlike Twilight and other characters, Yor was pictured to sit in such an elegant designer chair, and without anything to hide. Despite having the most gruesome secret work of all other character (IMO), it is amazing to see that Yor can remain to be herself.
In this volume we started with Yuri's disasterous first visit. I'll always love and laugh at the "I forgot that I forgot" sequences. 🤣🤣🤣
I mean, come on... look at that proud face of hers, for being able to conjure the biggest most elaborated lies she has ever made 🤣🤣🤣 Top it up with the 😶😶 face of both Loid and Yuri, and the plate crash.
No matter what or where the adaptation, be it this original manga sequences, the anime adaptation, or even the musical one. I just 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh bless Yor and her pure heart.
Nevertheless, this is the second time we got a glimpse of the Briar sibling's past.
As I've analyzed here, I just take notice that Yuri spesifically said that they were poor that they could't afford books or school supplies.
It implies that at the very least, by accepting the job at the Garden, Yor can afford to keep stable foods, clothes, and roof above their head. But for formal education, she gives all opportunity to Yuri.
And as the grateful brother, after coming home from school, Yuri taught Yor everything he knows. (Which the scene come at the next volume when Yuri taught Anya.)
So yeah, Yor didn't get enough formal education for herself, aside from reading and writting and study of anatomy. And that's also why she is so gullible and most of the time, cannot understand sarcasm or idioms. But Yor IS far from stupid. Nope. She IS quite smart herself. And has been shown to have a very strong memory and high observational skills.
Anyway, Yuri is right. Yor always give, give, and give everything for the people around her. (As we see later at chp 114), and neglect her own needs.
Which is why, when Yuri started to stand up on his own, it makes Yor lost all purposes in her life, until she met Loid and Anya.
And, this also imply that Yor never allowed herself the luxury of welcoming other people's care.
I mean, with her looks, there's no way a man never tried to approach her in the past. But Yor's focus was only for Yuri. That and it was most likely, many other men that Yor has met were bad guys, except the men of Garden.
But Matthew is Yor's father, and Shopkeeper is Yor's strict teacher. Maybe she has some younger male admirer like Hemlock, but from the latest Garden arc, it was implied that Yor didn't being friendly friend with them. Well, maybe with Gimpie, but.... I'm not sure.
Anyway, I'm glad that the circumnstances at the beginning of this series forced Yor to start accepting other people. And how I'm glad that of all people in the world, Yor met Loid and Anya.
Yes of course that's the purpose of Endo from the very beginning, but I truly am glad to see that Yor met with other good people, that is at the similar situation as her.
Despite what he said loudly and in his inner thought, Twilight is a good person. And Anya is the sweetest bean.
And by doing "every normal thing a good normal husband will do (based on books)", Loid gives Yor the care she never experiences before.
And, once again, in a way the circumstances forced Yor to learn to accept that care.
Which is why, I looovvveee this scene so much.
Because Yor truly and genuinely say what she feels. 🥰🥰🥰
And Loid's heart is struck by cupid's arrow 💘💘
Ahem. I mean, other than Yor's great development here, I also love this volume where we can see Loid slips. Again. And again.
He slips, envying other people who have "supporting people" in the hardest time of their lives. And somehow he told Yor about it, before he bails. (And Yor noticed this truth slipping out from him aaaaahhhh 🥰🥰🥰🥰)
And he again slips when he just doing all his logic things, as usual trying to squash his concience, but failing misserably..... and Franky called him out.
And he slips for being a human being, for being a normal father that is proud of their daughter.
Gosh.... Loid's development is there 🥰🥰. Subtle as it is, but it's there.
Is this development got undone in the bus hijack arc? Or is this development got undone in the Wheeler arc?
I don't think so. But let's talk about that later when I got to the said volume reread.
Anyway, it's lovely to see how both Yor and Loid showed a glimpse of truth during the ending of the disasterous date.
Tbh, I prefer the placing of this extra mission as it is originally intended at the manga, and not like the anime adaptation. Even though, I also enjoyed the anime adaptation so much due to the impeccable acting of Hayamin and Eguchi 🥰 but the sequences are flowing more nicely here.
During this extra chapter, Loid learns that he doesn't need to do all those extra effort to make Yor happy. And at the other hand, Yor learns to accept that enjoying activities are allowed (and normal) and spending it with someone can make her happy.
I love this scene so much 🥰
Other than these lovely TwiYor moments, I'm still haunted by the moments of Anya and Ken drowning 😰😰
I mean, this chapter and the anime adaptation making me truly paranoid, that at that time, when we were going on holiday, staying at a hotel with big water boom pool, I got so paranoid I put my son inside a floating jacket, extra arm float, and a swim ring. 😰😰😰 until he complained cause he cannot swim inside of all those things 😅😅😅 Sorry kiddo. 😅😅😅
Anyway, I'm glad Anya and her quick thinking saved Ken there 🥰🥰 a stella IS very much deserved.
Also some minor details...
Huh.... so these black market dealers did know what they were selling huh??? 👀👀
Anyway, this SxFRA somehow turned into another long analysis 😅😅
Anyway, unto next volume where we get to the InuSan arc 🥰🥰
