A Zude Fic: Picture Perfect
Hey, zudefam. I hope you like this one, i definitely loved writing it - i got major feels and i’m not gonna lie, i want to see something similar to this on Hit The Floor. If you have any prompt send them my way, it’ll probably be better if i don’t write any love scenes bc i wouldn’t do it justice. GIVE ME ALL THE FLUFF ;-)
Gideon wasn’t really the kind of guy who liked flaunting his relationships, not like Zero, his persona. Zero didn’t do relationships and that was before Jude, before he fell head over heels for Jude Kinkade. He always took pictures of his boyfriend or a little snap together at every chance he had, whether it was of Jude sleeping in his arms, or just a bunch a couple selfies – he didn’t care whether it was cringy or not, he was happy and he wanted to show the world how much he adores Jude. He wasn’t ashamed of sharing parts of his relationship on social media; it came with the whole ‘being a basketball super star’ territory, and let’s face it Gideon’s camera roll was filled with pictures of him and Jude together, it was beginning to look like a Jude shrine.
Posting the bathtime picture on his instagram was the start of showing the world how happy and besotted he is with Jude already, if the courtside kiss didn’t prove it. They were two imperfect souls who fit together so well and were two fools in love. Jude, on the other hand, wasn’t into the whole social media thing, he liked keeping parts of his relationship with Zero private, and he likes it when it’s just them. Zero was definitely the possessive type when it came to Jude & their relationship, this meant more to him than anything – everything came second when he’s with Jude, his happy ever after. Zero had been planning on how to propose to his beau without letting it slip, he had found the perfect ring which was engraved with the words Jude said to him “it’s still just you & me”
Zero had been carrying the ring around for a long time, he carefully hid the ring in the bedside table where he slept and where the beautiful game changing kiss was framed and look at them now still madly in love 2 years later – living in their new home in domestic bliss. Those 2 years had been filled with many beautiful moments; Zero making MVP, Jude finalising the whole running the team deal. Having your boyfriend as the boss had its perks. They had dealt with their fair share of drama and came out stronger. And those photographs proved it.

“I figured we could get a takeout and have a little date night” – Jude says as he enters their bedroom with Zero looking through their little box of photographs – “You look pretty sexy here, with your curls”, Zero looked up showing Jude the picture of the two of them lying in bed in a sweet embrace. “I didn’t realise you had some of these” – Jude chuckled. The box included selfies from Jude’s birthday captioned: 'Happy Birthday to my main number 1 guy <3’, snaps of them together at events – happy and in love, the toothy, eye sparkling kind of smiles, holding hands, Jude watching Zero scoring the winning shot that led to his MVP title, the beach selfie of Jude planting a kiss on Zero’s cheek, those loved up smiles from the spontaneous trip to Paris by the Eiffel Tower that Zero surprised Jude with 5 months ago – “We look so happy” Jude said going through the photographs “Yeah and still together” says Zero before giving him a loving peck on the lips.
Their photograph box was filled with every beautiful, cherished moment captured between Jude and Zero. And Zero couldn’t wait to add the smile on Jude’s face when he asked Jude for his hand in marriage. He’d got it all planned out. Zero never thought he’d find someone to share his life with, to love unconditionally, someone who loves him just as much as he loves Jude – Jude was the most beautiful thing in his life and he was going to make a life changing proposal at the state championship.
Jude and Zero soon ordered Chinese which of course led them to pinching one another’s food. They had definitely become one of those couples that did all the cute coupley things, especially selfies and taking pictures of the other when they least expected it, they were head over heels for each other. As the state championship was getting closer, Zero’s nerves were kicking in and not because of the game – What if he lets it slip? What if the team let it slip?
They decided to take a little trip to the beach; the sun was shining, the waves crashing against the rocks. It was absolute heaven. They laid on the sand in each other’s arms, Zero knowing Jude was the one he’d been searching for, someone to make him happy, someone to wake up next to, someone to spend the rest of his life with. “I love you, Gideon” whispered Jude in Zero’s ear, “I love you too, Mr Kinkade” Zero said as he kissed Jude sweetly on the lips, knowing he was making the right choice. Jude was his happily ever after and asking Jude to marry him was just the beginning.
The plan was to propose before the game, with Jude being serenaded by the Devil Girls with “Without You” playing over the speakers and Gideon appearing in the crowd of Devil Girls to make that beautiful proposal.
HOURS LATER
Jude arrives courtside to watch his man do what he does best. It’s not long before music starts playing and the Devil Girls come out from the shadows, dancing the routine they had choreographed for Zero’s proposal with Jude seated center stage, looking surprised at what’s happening in front of him – Zero appears out the crowd of Devil Girls, dressed in a black suit with a dark purple shirt matching his usual smart shoes, he looked handsome. Jude’s eyes lit up when he saw Zero, who made his way to his love not losing eye contact, smiling. “Jude Kinkade. You have changed my life in more ways than one. Every moment with you is special, you are my best friend, my family and my soulmate. Most importantly, you are my home. Nothing makes sense without you by my side, guiding me. You are my everything and my happy ending.” Zero locks eyes with Jude as he goes down on one knee, not taking his eyes off the man in front of him – “Jude Kinkade, will you marry me?” – Jude looks at Gideon with love and replies “Yes. Of course, I’ll marry you!” Zero places the engraved ring on Jude’s finger and takes Jude’s face in his hands “I love you so much” - They seal the proposal with a beautiful yet passionate kiss, which is met with cheers and camera flashes filling the stadium. All Jude and Zero could see was each other.
For Zero to win the championship would be amazing, but the icing on the cake is that he has the one person he loves with every atom in his body by his side, whom is now his fiancé – he couldn’t be happier.
The Devils were down 36-28, they needed the winning basket to score the championship. Derek passes to Zero who shoots for the basket, winning the championship for the Devils! They were champions. “You did it!” Jude says running to Zero who embraces him with a kiss. He may have won the championship but he had the one thing he’s ever wanted by his side, his fiancé.
They go home as a newly engaged couple, and this was the moment Zero was going to capture – Zero takes a selfie of the two of them locking eyes and another one of them looking at the camera with the biggest grins and heart eyes which Zero captions ‘my fiancé <3’
They were together, a family, each others home and that was everything. Nothing else mattered, just them and their future, everything picture perfect.
