astarion: anais is not here
the party: yeah?
astarion: she’s pretty much 85% of my impulse control
can you tell us something about your original story? i'm really interested!!
i don’t like talking about my story on my blog and frankly don’t love posting here much. but here is a bit of information to satisfy your curiosity!
i wrote my draft for camp nanowrimo in april and am now starting to revise. basically it’s a series of eight short stories with an interlude between each one. it’s a modern fantasy story, and a woman named della is the main character. she is a high-end mercenary whose specialty is an illegal form of magic. the story is her telling her friend andrean various anecdotes from her life. emile is della’s husband and nelya is her former professor.
pwease talk about tealor and narathzul i love your vyn lore discussions so much
well you asked for it!
i don’t believe that tealor is a tragic hero, like the post i reblogged said. he isn’t a hero in the first place. that’s the whole point of enderal, that he, the prophet, and taranor are not heroes. so i didn’t like that phrasing. i get op’s point, though.
i was just thinking the other day about a certain similarity between tealor and dijaam, surprisingly. they’re both incredibly focused on a particular goal, to the exclusion of everything else. (tealor’s fleshlessness could be part of this in enderal, but i’m mainly talking about his rise to becoming grandmaster, i.e. before he became fleshless, rather than his focus on the beacon.) they both have shunned their families because they see them as an impediment to advancement. thinking about tealor as like dijaam but in politics rather than business is an interesting way of conceptualizing his character.
many people on vynblr see tealor as an entirely bad person, while everywhere else, he’s seen as a charismatic and effective leader. i lean more towards vynblr’s opinion, but definitely see his charisma as well. it’s used as a force of control more than a force of friendship, though. he became grandmaster for a reason and that reason is that he can control the endralean people. i think that tealor is a bad person who is good at what he does. that’s the most i can say.
which is something he passed on to narathzul. narathzul inspired a continent-wide revolution. he inspires practically everything taranor does, from his conquest of the northrealm to his invasion of enderal. he changed nehrim from one of the most religious nations to the least. i would argue that narathzul is more charismatic than tealor.
that post has had me thinking about whether narathzul is a complex character, and my thought process always has me coming back to him being just as complex as any emissary (who by definition has one defining goal), which makes me think that he is, in fact, an emissary.
narathzul’s feud with arkt could have been done a lot better. yes, i know that nehrim didn’t have enough resources for excellent writing. however, i don’t like the dead woman trope. i also don’t see how arkt, an interdimensional and immortal being, would have any stake in fighting with an immature and emotionally hampered.
every time i think about narathzul i always go back to miriam. i picture her at younger than twenty and a secretary at the sun temple or something similar when narathzul is born, and tealor gives his child to her anyway. i’m more uncomfortable with her role in narathzul’s life than zelara’s. she has the same dead woman trope but she doesn’t motivate narathzul at all; he just forgets about her altogether. miriam deserved better!
genius idea: dlc where the arantheals have a family meeting before the events of both games. this is the only reliable way that the cleansing could have been stopped.
morgan and vernon.. i love they.
did you know that... i love YOOUU?? >:) <33

02. — "He cleared his throat, searching for any judgment in her gaze, but found none. She listened to him intently, holding his hand with a gentle touch.”
