Allen and Cesare headcanon- Allen is one of three kids to Korean immigrants, either the eldest or middle child. He was supposed to be a doctor and he was very good in his classes. Very high grades. He changed majors partway through college to pursue a culinary profession, much to his parents' chagrin. The predictability and stability of science had its perks but it was too predictable and without joy.
Cooking on the other hand? There is a baseline but the possibilities are endless. There is fun and discoveries to be had at every turn. Sometimes it's unpredictable or surprising and that's what he wants out of life. Enter Cesare. He employs Allen to cook for his burger truck, but he himself is unpredictable, chaotic, loud and confident. Although Allen is a bit theatrical himself, Cesare is his foil. He brings life and excitement and enthusiasm to Allens life. Allen, supportive and eager to participate, grounds Cesare (as much as anybody can), which I think is shown pretty well in the final episode. He brings Cesare back and is the catalyst for Caligari's demise at Cesare's hand. They freed each other, if you think about it.
