THE ZOLAS - Bombs Away
This is song is so fucking good, and just released and hour and a half ago. Zachs lyrics are amazing and the backing up instrumental is amazing I love it so much. But the part that KILLS me is the lyrics.
He wrote things like “In between jobs / In between her stops / She can tell it’s probable she’ll always be a renter” and “I’m in a city full of buildings / my friends used to live”
He, and the rest of the band live in Vancouver, which is also where I live. In this city you’ll find the extremely rich, rich, barley passing by and homeless, because to own a house in Vancouver you have to be RICH. it’s so expensive it’s insane. The song is just saying that most of zachs friends used live like this and felt the same, so they moved away. With the chorus saying “Bombs Away / We’ll press eject and start again” meaning hes finally doing it, and also moving away. Finally starting again in a new place.
Seeing as this amazing song came out now, I see it as a sign. It’s so exciting in an excellent way, and the lyrics are framed in a positive way, but seeing as I am in the same circumstances, I can help but feel put down. Right now, all I want to do is get out of Vancouver just like Zach. I’ve been planning places to visit and Universities to go to, but I still have to graduate HS. needless to say, this song is meant to be happy and it is, but right now I feel like it’s ridiculing how much I’m stuck in this city, while he is not. Once I’m done high school, this will be my anthem of moving on and getting out!
Take a listen and if you’ve read this far thank you 💖
There was life before you & there will be life after you; but the life I had with you will always be my favorite memory.
