Small angry kobold prankster with a lot of bravado and trust issues. Hates fowls (they are bad luck unless roasted or cooked in some way). Loves hats.
Minch was born in a subterranean and peaceful tribe of Kobolds. They were a typical kid and then teen, if a little more brave and dreamy than the others, maybe because Minch was very fond of the tribe's old shaman and their stories.
One day, during Mushroom duty, Minch found a strange glowing crystal pulsating with magic. One second, they were picking that thing up in case it was useful or just pretty. The next, they were in a room full of big folks and yelling the little they knew in Common: "Please don't kill me! / I have no gold / I can do stuff for you!" and crying in Draconic.
The startled group was not big on killing somebody begging for their life, and the Dragonborn in the group identified, correctly, Minch as a young Kobold. By some fluke, the old mascot (Pete the Pretty Pet Possum) of the team had just passed away, so Minch became the mascot of a wandering gladiators/wrestlers team (the Terrific Tiger Striped Tarrasques).
They were charged with special missions in the other teams' living quarters: putting laxatives in their drinks, itching powders in their stuff, noisy (and tasty 😋) crickets in the bedroom... It was annoying after a while (and pointless because the fights weren't lethal in the first place).
Minch was well-treated and cared for by their teammates (educated, trained, paid (a bit), plenty of food, hats, and cool costumes...). It wasn't meant to last, alas.
Minch was caught by another team's mascot: a goose 🪿! Their teammates threw Minch under the carriage. They said they weren't aware of Minch's mischief and soundly beat them up (cutting a part of their tail (it regrows after a while)), took back most of Minch's stuff, and replaced them with a stupid rooster 🐓.
Minch got the last laugh, though, managing to sneak back, steal their favorite things back (plus extra money), and fill the Tarrasques' bedroom with rotten eggs and very angry fire hornets from a clay pot.
Minch is on the road, eager for glory, shiny things, roasted birds to sample, and ways to prove the world that Kobolds can do anything they want (and either succeed or fail like everyone else).
Minch's scales are the color of tarnished, unpolished copper with spots of green everywhere. Minch is very proud of their fine line of mother-of-pearl-like scales that run from under the jaw to the tip of their tail.
Their favorite hats are fur hats adorned with feathers from chickens 🐔. Minch wears a "long" functional coat (stolen from the kid of a noble) with a lot of pockets on the inside.
