Zippy's Chili (Imitation)
Ingredients:
1 small onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 a bell pepper, diced
1/2 Portuguese sausage, diced
1 tbsp neutral oil
1 lb ground beef
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika 1
(15 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 (16 oz) red kidney beans
2 tbsp mayonnaise (kewpie is best)
2 bay leaves
Instructions:
In a pot, cook ground beef. Season with salt.
Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook down.
Add porteguese sausages and spices.
Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
Add 2 bay leaves, simmer on low for 30 minutes.
Add mayo at the end.
Notes:
2024/9/02 - Delicious as is. Maybe tad less chili powder for spice. Tastes close enough.
