i can't find the gif right now, but zilchmare when bobby's an adult and moping or feeling shitty will just slither on up and smack him upside the head like the green goblin did to spiderman. just a casual, condescending swat while he then hovers over him and sneers.
with him, it's kind of like learning to live with personal dislike of one's self. it's not something that can be really locked away. it's something that has to be actively worked on. he's definitely much quieter and less volatile than he used to be (unless bobby's spiraling or in a really bad spot in someone's mind and has no choice but to let zilchmare go nuts), but he still knows how to twist the knife. whether he's mini or his regular self, he's still present and sneaky and someone/something that bobby has to live with because i don't think he'll fully like himself. there will always be some niggling feeling about himself that doesn't quite go away, even if with his positive relationships. bobby knows how to handle it when those feelings turn south, or if he starts going south himself, tho at the same time, he does risk lashing out and letting his anger get the better of him.
at the same time, when bobby knows he's being ridiculous, then he's flicking itty bitty zilchmare on his forehead. spritzing him with water. shoo, get outta here.
also thinking about zilchmare before i hit the hay. with the kind of destructive mental entity that he is, thinking about bobby in a desperate situation on a mission in someone's mind, him summoning/manifesting zilchmare in a fit of anger or quite truly a hail mary move would be a shock to both himself and the big, bad beast. zilchmare, being all about bobby's internalized/stagnant self-hatred, would not be willing to fight on his behalf/work with him unless convinced that if bobby goes out, he goes out, and zilchmare wants bobby to keep failing, so he gets to be monstrous and take down whatever mental enemy had been overwhelming bobby. then, there's the issue of putting him back where he belongs because he's already feeding off bobby's frustration with his current inability.
