If you want a redemption for Nick... Read this fanfiction. A true masterpice.

So... people are stupid. You make a post explaining that, canonically, Nick isn't just a simple villain, that he's more complex and nuanced, but still a monster (literally saying that he's essentially been brainwashed since childhood to find horrible things normal, etc.). And I'm precisely talking about how it pisses me off that people can't recognize that. And what do I get in the comments? Someone trying to say that because Nick is essentially homophobic, he's none of that. That he's not just a brainwashed/innocent kid, but a homophobe. Literally, people are willfully stupid?! Also... do people know that homophobia isn't automatic? But rather something that's instilled in you one way or another? By your environment, your friends, your family, the media, books, etc. So nobody thinks that Nick's homophobia, a kid who was literally raised with the idea that sacrifices to the devil are to be made... that of all the possible things, homophobia came naturally to him? It's a kind of joke? And despite that, I'm clear about the fact that Nick is a monster for make these choices. But all that is in part (not entirely, but like I said in part) because of the life he has. Like why when you said all that people think you defending his murders! When it has nothing to do with! You just say that "Hey this villain is a little complex!" and you're publicly burned for this...
And ironically, this person is also a pro Byler, an anti Wyler and an anti Stancy...
And I'm supposed to take her words seriously? When this person still denying Wyler and Stancy?
Besides acting as if she had some kind of moral superiority for not recognizing the complexity in a villain, loving a villain (who hasn't done that in a fictional story?!), couples that fall under the enemies to lovers or lovers to enemies dynamic/trope?!
Besides using the fact that I'm not a puritan and I can ship any kind of well-written relationship, well I simply I like the "bad" ones where "the guy is always seemingly dangerous for the girl". It's not like I ship couples like that even in a queer context (Hannigram, Catradora, etc.), and that I also love tons of healthy and sweet relationships (Jacey -an inspiration for Stancy relationship by the way-, Stydia, Everlark, etc.)?
This person literally looks ridiculous.
Like... at this point it's should be a joke. Besides, this person's account is empty. I'm convinced it was some kind of troll.

Until a few days ago, I hadn't gotten involved in the Fear Street fandom. I was content to enjoy the trilogy on my own.
I rewatched it recently after my frustration with the writing of Stranger Things season 5.
After that, I thought joining the fandom would be cool.
And what a surprise to see so many people thinking that Nick Goode wasn't at all in love with Ziggy Berman... What the hell?
What movies have you actually watched?!
Yes, Nick is a monster. That's a fact. But why? Because he was essentially brainwashed by his father. We're talking about a guy whose childhood/adolescence was essentially brainwashed. Why is it that every time there's a villain in a story where they're intentionally given nuance, people refuse to see it?
Nick was definitely in love with Ziggy.
Besides, what do you think she survived for, anyway?! Between defending her from her bullies and spending the night trying to save her?!
He literally spent the night trying to keep her safe. He took an axe blow for her, a wound that now cripples him for life. While she was clinically dead, he brought her back to life, begging her not to die. He himself said he let plenty of people die that night, but NOT her, because yes he likes her.
Before the night of horror began, he even talked about how he wasn't sure about his family heritage and that he wished he was the boy who liked books, spiders, and the weird girl from Shadyside.
Nick wasn't completly a monster in this moment.
Like... if he didn't love her... why all this? Stop believing that bad people can't fall in love. It's exhausting. They can. In their twisted ways. That's what's realistic and what makes it all the more terrifying. That monsters are, in reality, always human.
And before anyone tells me that "yes, the Nick of 1978 loved Ziggy, but not the present-day Nick"... that's wrong.
We see that in the first film, Nick goes to Ziggy's house. He knows where she lives, so he's clearly informed about her. He leaves her a note, essentially to warn her that it's started again, probably to keep her from leaving her house.
The guy is completely alone, without a wife or children. Do you really think it's a coincidence that he hasn't rebuilt his romantic life after Ziggy?
And when he sees her again in the third film, he has flashbacks to their teenage years, including their first kiss.
Yes, he ends up threatening her, but only after she puts his own life in danger. It's pretty obvious he wouldn't have done anything to her otherwise.
And when he's separated from her by one of the killers and Ziggy is also attacked, he desperately screams to Deena that her blood is on Ziggy, and that's why she's being attacked by the killers.
People refuse to acknowledge that Nick Goode, as a villain, was not born evil, but was molded, and that despite all that, despite this monstrosity, he sincerely loved Ziggy in his own way.
Because in the minds of these people, apparently acknowledging these things means condoning and validating Nick's actions... Which has nothing to do with it!?
@kittenfangirl20
Exactly. I honestly think that Nick have a crush on Ziggy before the beginning of what we saw in the second movie. It's seem pretty obivous. But they only truly connected during that fateful day/night we witnessed. United for just a few hours before being torn apart by tragedy and horror. I think if Nick had connected with Ziggy before renewing the pact, he might have changed his mind and not done it, knowing that even after his terrible act of inscribing Tommy's name, he speaks of his complicated legacy that he's unsure he wants. I truly believe that if this connection with Ziggy had occurred earlier, Nick would have changed course.

Nick Goode's mentality: If I live, Ziggy lives too. If I die, however, I take her with me.
