Niles laughed, scaling the tree to take aim at his prince once more. Training could be fun, sometimes, when it involved hunting a mage on horseback and no actual murder. He had to admit to himself he didn't really enjoy murder anymore. It was a necessity, yes, sometimes, especially when one was guarding a prince of Nohr, but there were more important things. Like landing a hit on the prince, so he could gloat over Leo as long as he needed. Or as long as it took him to convince Leo to take him to bed when they wouldn't be found out. They had to be careful. But a victory was a victory and a reward was a reward and Niles knew what he wanted his to be.

Of course, he forgot entirely that the prince's magic was in the trees.

And promptly found himself flat on his ass, facing the end of Leo's sword. He only brought out the sword for the killing blow, proof he could have his opponent's head if he needed it. Niles grinned. "I slipped up."

"I picked the battlefield, I had an unfair advantage, dear Niles."

He let Leo pull him to his feet, dragged the smaller man into his arms as he stood. "My lord, what is this calling me terms of endearment?"

"But you are, my dear Niles, aren't you?" Leo wound his arms around him, stepped ever closer so their bodies were flush. "All mine."

"All yours. You've tamed this wild thing, for better or worse." He knew it was saccharine, too sweet, but he said those words all the same, just to steal a kiss from Leo's smile. Just to taste the little breaths he took in between their kisses, like happiness was something tangible, something he could feel on his tongue.
