Ennek egyik előnye hasonló a réz felsőnyeregéhez - amit viszont jóval macerásabb elkészíteni -, nevezetesen hogy azonos lesz a pengetett hang akkor is, ha lefogás nélkül, nyíltan szól, és akkor is, ha lefogjuk. Van, akinek ez sokat számít. Ilyen nulladik bundos hangszerekhez készítettem felsőnyerget. Ezeknél az alkatrészeknél a húrmagasságot és a hangszínt nem, csak a húrok kiosztását határozzák meg a vájatok. * Mostly older guitars use zero frets.
