I’ve been using my ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser for weeks now. I have to say that it has been dependable for my personal and business affairs. So, when ASUS Philippines had an afternoon of ZenFone Photowalk dubbed as “OneDay of Zen”, I did not hesitate to jump-in the fun o try out what more I can learn from other ZenFone users and the pros.
ASUS Philippines invited two professional photographers to share their thoughts on photography and about using the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0
Asked to compare the ZenFone 2 to other smartphones, veteran photographer Jay Tablante quickly answered, “I can attest that the ZenFone 2’s auto-focus speed when taking photos is remarkably fast compared to my previous smartphones. More so, in terms of quality, you will find that the images taken by the ZenFone 2 are very crisp and bright overall, so that means you would no longer need to rely on any sort of photo app anymore. Given the ZenFone 2’s overall performance, I can say that it rivals that of the more expensive smartphones out there, but without the hefty price tag.”
Roy continues the discussion: “Another great thing about the ZenFone 2 is its 13mp camera, which makes the quality of its photos comparable to the big SLR cameras. With a great eye and a gadget like the ZenFone 2, one can definitely take an image like a pro who uses an SLR camera, and no one will be able to tell the difference, unless you blow up the image. But given its price, the ZenFone 2 is definitely bang for the buck. And with all the best features packed into one, this smartphone can definitely compete with the SLRs in the market.”
“Performance wise, I can say that the ZenFone 2 is much faster than the point and shoot cameras in the market now. Its auto-focus speed is so on-point that I have made my ZenFone 2 my go-to device for taking quick snaps, as there is never a struggle to capture any moment.”
With the two pro photographers starting out those speeches, I, together with more than 100 ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 users, headed out to Fort Santiago to take on the challenge for the day of ASUS Philippines – taking photos within the hour.

Off we went via TheLuxe Bus from Makati to Fort Santiago.
With only an hour to move around and take photos, there was only one left thing to do, walk around and shoot.
Being in Fort Santiago was a bit nostalgic to me as some of my college activities were done there. Being with Cristelle though made the Fort Santiago tour more exciting as it was her first time to be there. I acted as if I was her tour guide, while the whole photowalk was taking place.
It was a time for us to talk about some of my fond memories back in college and a little bit of history about Rizal.
As we went around Fort Santiago, I took some photos using my ZenFone 2 Laser.
The photowalk both tested my ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 for both indoor and outdoor photography. I must confess that there are lots of tricks to the built-in camera app and I don’t know how to use them all, but, as for most uses, the ZenFone 2 Laser camera brings more to the table for mobile photographers.
One trick that I learned is the panorama selfie which is quite cool, if you ask me.
Both the front and rear camera take decent photos. More than many people would actually look for in a camera these days at this cost.
That’s why, if you’re a mobile photographer, I find the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 to be a practical buy for an everyday usage.
If I were to buy a new phone almost every year, with only P7,295 (ZE500KL) or P7,995 (ZE550KL), it is only a little over Php 600 per month per year.
I have to say that the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0 is for an everyday mobile photographer who wants decent photos without ripping off their pockets. ;-)
