For what's it worth, I've been in the same kind of rut for a while. You get some of that validation from your friends, even to the point of calling some your "chosen family in my case. But what you want, need, is that person who calls you first in the middle of the afternoon when they want someone to talk to. Whose eyes you look into and they never look away.
