hey, what would be the right lid for a zebra isopod tank? I heard they need lots of ventilation and i have a glass 5gal with a mesh lid so i think thats not enough to hold in humidity but i cant easily modify it
I don’t have much ventilation for mine at all. They’re in shoebox-style tubs with some holes poked with a pushpin. I started my first culture in a Ziploc reusable plastic container with some holes poked in the top. They’re thriving!
This is actually more ventilation than many isopods need! Many are just fine in a tub with no holes poked, that you open once a week, so that might be what people meant by “lots”.
If there is too much ventilation, I suggest just covering it with plastic wrap, a piece of acrylic (which you can get cut at a home improvement store), or craft foam sheets. Anything impervious to water can be used; bubble wrap, tin foil, etc.
