are the gods/parents present in this at all? i dont think ive seen any mention of them, curious as to if theyre just not important or if theyre gonna have a mention sometime 👀

i wasn't thinking that much about it, i think i was just gonna ignore the gods. but this just gave me a vision of doctor apollo working on a cure. and athena like. frakensteining the zombies. and zeus and hera leading a group of their own. plus it would fill the spot i need of these kids traveling with somewhat capable adults so their survival isn't entirely unbelievable.

or well i mean the hunters were gonna be a thing so i guess artemis was gonna be part of the au anyway. but yeah sure the gods can be included and fill that role for me. they probably won't be major players tho. at most like pseudo parental figures for these orphans that protect them and sacrifice themselves for them maybe idk hmmm or wait

zeus and hera are a married couple from before the apocalypse and they establish a pretty good little society. named...........greco? i'll workshop it LMAO but zeus as god of justice and king of the gods as an actual like good ruler/leader of the group. hera as a fair-er circe in protecting the women in the new world but also clinging too tight to the old world - kinda like lori a little from twd where she couldn't accept the world was over and she was kinda waiting for things to be fixed to go back to normal, struggling to accept the new normal, but still looking out for people in this new world

poseidon as some isolated fisher man living on the coast. ouu maybe the olympians form like a commonwealth of various societies survivng in the apocalypse and trading with one another. poseidon offering sea food in exchange for like weapons from zeus and crops from demeter?

demeter having her own farm...zeus wrongs her in some way and she cuts off trade of food to his group and they try scavenging for food nearby but everything is raided and gone so they start starving until zeus makes amends with her...

hephaestus as blacksmith of course, making weapons from blades to bullets for them, and hermes as their runner and messenger so he's out on runs exploring and scavanging as well as bringing people back to their camps.......athena as architect and battle strategist so she's the one making plans to fortify the walls against herds as well as figuring out (alongside hephaestus) how to get electricity and running water and communications back up. ares as their muscle who also goes out on runs with hermes as more protection, ares often on the walls on guard duty or our clearing sectors of land around them to keep the zombies away

percy who was pushing that they go to the coast because it made the most sense survival wise but annabeth is pushing to find some military base and clear it out and settle in and percy is just like "we'd need more numbers for that, we should hit the coast for the time being until we have the manpower to do that" and they head to the coast and find poseidon and poseidon introduces them to the commonwealth...
