Clue? Haha! Just kidding. Well, not just on the road but on different aspects of life as well. Have you heard of the controversial condo policy this year? While there is nothing wrong with telling househelp and drivers to use the utility elevators instead of the regular elevators, it was the complaints of the arrogant tenants and the wording of the (likewise, arrogant) building manager's memo that sent the social media ablaze. In hindsight, househelp workers may even find using the utility elevators an advantage since it has more room and travels faster than regular elevators. However the memo's wording was reflective of the true colours of the snotty tenants and the building management alike. These people who are living posh lifestyles and often brag where they have studied are proof that such discriminatory practices, which have no place in a progressive society, are still commonplace in a third world nation with an elitist mindset. While incidents like this are not confined within this country, it still baffles me why some people who study in such prestigious universities with tuition fees that trump more than an average layman's annual income find it hard to embody and live the values and principles on which those institutions stand for. Maybe their values education faculty aren't doing their jobs enough. Or are they? Because if they do we won't see this kind of elitist menace in this country. Or perhaps the schools don't have anything to do with their boorish behaviour. Most likely it is how they were raised. Class is something that money can't buy. It is taught. Class is more than just etiquette or prestige, it is also how you treat your fellow people regardless if they wear Gucci or bakya. Again, let me make myself clear. This is not a war against classes. Let's not use the rich-versus-poor card on this one. It is about how some people fail to use their highly-prized education. Thanks, Zai! :)
