The fact that the door to the castle was unlocked is lost on Sif. Usually she wasn’t able to turn doorknobs at all, so finding one unlocked wasn’t the novel thing about this situation. She easily fit through the doorway -- another thing she was unused to -- and steps into the castle.
“Knight Zack,” she calls out. “I respect the privacy of one's den, but as thy friend I am exercising the right to check up on thy health as I realize thy packmate hath left this world.”
It’s an odd feeling that wells up in her. She will miss Lord Sephiroth, though she didn’t know him deeply, and certainly not as well as Zack... But it’s also the first time she’s ever referred to someone as her “friend” out loud and in spoken words.
Putting that feeling aside for now, she realizes she hasn’t properly announced herself.
“It is I, Great Grey Wolf Sif. The meddling of the false gods did allow me to taketh a humanoid form once again.”
