[Özgün Semerci] "A Nightmare on Clawhammer Banjo" : I would not expect someone from Istanbul to lean so hard into the sonic language of a mythological American frontier, but it's so awesome that I am compelled to acknowledge it's accomplishment. [Alfie Ryner] "II" : Listening to it is a lot of fun, although it occasionally takes a bit too much space for my personal preferences, but where else am I gonna get a French diatribe in my ear, featuring sax? [zabutom] "Resolution" : Astounded and overjoyed that my favorite chiptune artist decided to make Idm, it's a dream come true. [Boiled Buzzards] "Salt And Grease" : Great picking, but I'll wanna listen to their much more famous album tonight to see if I should stick with this group for a bit or keep searching. [Malcom Catto] "Popcorn Bubble Fish" : Reminded me quite a bit of Medeski, Martin and Wood at times. [Bobbing] "Year of the Newt" : The natural step forward from "Thank You for Singing to Me," I could see these songs being put on the radio. [Lily Allen] "It's Not Me, It's You" : Fantastic music, with lyrics that vary from extremely vulnerable to outright caustic. [Sevish] "Harmony Hacker" : I'm nostalgic for this album, so therefore it's good.

[Pilotredsky] "The Scuffler EP" : Relistened, because I like this EP immensely and wish to burn it into my neurons. [Moon Tooth] "Crux" : A favorite album of mine from the band that properly got me into metal, although I've now learned the hard way that listening to music I'm personally attached to at work is a waste. [Grisbi] "Playtime" : Revisiting this project that I found a few years ago, because it still sounds very fresh and playful (surprising, I know) years after release, and is an easy recommendation considering it comes from a relatively unknown group. [Varra] "Varra III" : It feels like Varra is trying new things with their style, and I'm totally down with it. [Mr. Bill] "Phantasmagoria" : Personally I didn't connect with it as much as I did with "Apophenia," but it's by no means a bad project. [Elvis Costello] "My Aim is True" : Lots of great tracks, and enjoyably playful within it's genre, although I'd recommend the single disc version, because the inclusion of demos and an entire live session after the original recordings is, to my taste, egregious bloat. [Slowdive] "Souvlaki" : Very hazy and moody without feeling like it's trying too hard, a difficult musical balance to hit. [zabutom] "Lost Tapes I" : I just needed a palette cleanser after the previous two, I've given my thoughts on this album already. [Aphex Twin] "Syro" : I like a lot of music in this area of music, and while Aphex Twin isn't always my number one pick, there's a reason he's as established as he is, and it's consistent goodness. [Tom Waits] "Rain Dogs" : When the album started I thought he sounded like a cartoon character, but boy did I absolutely get into the mood of this one.

[zabutom] "Redux34" : Between the noticeably extended palette and bolder compositional choices, I think this project is a solid continuation of zabutom's style that melds a lot of the strengths of chiptunes while developing past the technical weaknesses. [Andrew Underberg et. al.] "Hazbin Hotel OST" : Listening to this on recommendation from my boyfriend I at no point suspected that the soundtrack would be in the style of a Broadway play, and so it was a pleasant surprise to effectively listen through a radio drama at work. [Pilotredsky] "The Scuffler EP" : To my ears, the synth palette of this album is incredibly evocative and playful, and has an impact on me unlike any other musicians kicking around these days. [Boris] "Boris at Last - Feedbacker" : Super hearty and beefy, quite a pleasure to listen to. [Arch Echo] "Story I" : Fun jamming that makes it sound like you're running outside on the first sunny day of spring after a long winter. [Moon Hooch] "Moon Hooch" : I enjoy the later albums a bit more, but I think a lot of the spirit of this first album still stands quite well, especially when they get silly with just letting the sax scream for a few seconds. [Minutemen] "Double Nickels on the Dime" : Like being trapped at a college party where someone finds a guitar: Kind of garbage, but gets progressively more enjoyable as it goes on. [Dubmood & MASTER BOOT RECORD] "Votedisk // Scene is Dead" : A cool collaboration between two artists I like!

[Moon Hooch] "This Is Cave Music" : Something about snarly saxophones and drums accompanying messages of self-acceptance and love of others makes me think that these dudes have reached enlightenment, and are using their music to bring the rest of humanity up to speed. [Sweet Trip] "Velocity: Design: Comfort." : I love it when my organic sounds play nicely with my decidedly inorganic sounds. [zabutom] "Zeta Force" : Pretty standard stuff for zabutom, which still leaves him noticeably ahead of a lot of other chiptune artists. [Invisible] "El Jardin de los Presentes" : This album has a lot going on in it, and pretty much all of it was a pleasant surprise for me. [EMEFE] "EMEFE" : I was hoping for a full project of "Sun Spat" adjacent tracks, and while this is certainly not that, there is definitely a time and place for which this album is well suited. [Dave Bowie] "Low" : There's a lot to like here, although for whatever reason I didn't find myself personally enjoying the front half of this album all that much at all. [Ulver] "Nattens Madrigal" : I put this in the queue for giggles, and yet over the run time I got progressively more invested, to the extent that the conclusion of the album was genuinely cathartic. [Anna & Elizabeth] "The Invisible Comes to Us" : Many of the earlier tracks are masterful at setting mood on their own, and the end of the album gets more unorthodox than I was expecting for this style. [Ratatat] "Classics" : Being able to hear both the right and left channel would have been preferable, but this album is called "Classics" for a reason.
