zabrinahs asked you:
do you have terezi references for her hair i really like how you styled it!(sorry if this came up twice in your ask box i wasn't sure if it went through)
Whoops! Yes, I do! Kind of. Thanks for liking how I did Terezi's hair (I'm insanely smug over how Terezi turned out in general), but you should be warned that her hair only looks that good from a limited number of angles, so it feels a little lop-sided to me. I dunno. u3u
Let's see... I tried to outline where her hair changes shape. Hopefully this makes sense...
Here's what I was going for, with the lightly shaded green areas marking mostly flat areas. Please note that hair doesn't work that way. I didn't get the memo.
From the front, there are a lot of sharp, acute, angled lines, and the rare gentle curve. Kind of like what I did with Gamzee, I tried to pattern the design of her hair from what we can see from her hair's silhouette.Â
From the back, there is much less going on. Very few lines, most meet up without reaching too far into the 'center' of her head. This I kind of like, since it gave me room to use some much more subtle lines and shapes there, and the effect is pretty satisfying. :>
But yeah. Verrrry unrealistic hair. There are not many images that detail Terezi's hair very clearly, but here's some things that I picked out when I was looking for reference pictures:
(Judging by the way her fringe/bangs are positioned, her hair in front may be swept away from her right horn). (I guess I forgot to doodle this onto the image...)
Obviously, I outright forgot about all this when I started sculpting, but I think they're handy details to keep in mind if you decide to sculpt her hair a little less abstract.
Hope that helps! :D
