You do commissions? For those statue/figurine thingies? Because if so I might be interested at some point :O
Hey, thanks for your interest! 0u0
You've probably heard already, but Hussie has asked people not to use his creative property for commissions or other financial gain. So to respect his request, I don't take Homestuck-based commissions.
Feel free to commission anything else you'd like, though! :D
zabrinahs asked you:
do you have terezi references for her hair i really like how you styled it!(sorry if this came up twice in your ask box i wasn't sure if it went through)
Whoops! Yes, I do! Kind of. Thanks for liking how I did Terezi's hair (I'm insanely smug over how Terezi turned out in general), but you should be warned that her hair only looks that good from a limited number of angles, so it feels a little lop-sided to me. I dunno. u3u
Let's see... I tried to outline where her hair changes shape. Hopefully this makes sense...
Here's what I was going for, with the lightly shaded green areas marking mostly flat areas. Please note that hair doesn't work that way. I didn't get the memo.
From the front, there are a lot of sharp, acute, angled lines, and the rare gentle curve. Kind of like what I did with Gamzee, I tried to pattern the design of her hair from what we can see from her hair's silhouette.
From the back, there is much less going on. Very few lines, most meet up without reaching too far into the 'center' of her head. This I kind of like, since it gave me room to use some much more subtle lines and shapes there, and the effect is pretty satisfying. :>
But yeah. Verrrry unrealistic hair. There are not many images that detail Terezi's hair very clearly, but here's some things that I picked out when I was looking for reference pictures:
(Judging by the way her fringe/bangs are positioned, her hair in front may be swept away from her right horn). (I guess I forgot to doodle this onto the image...)
Obviously, I outright forgot about all this when I started sculpting, but I think they're handy details to keep in mind if you decide to sculpt her hair a little less abstract.
Hope that helps! :D
Should've posted this long ago, but here's Gamzee! All the props, credit and thanks go to my big bro, who talked me down in the middle of a fierce Mexican stand off between a fit of frustration, a half-painted Gamzee, and a power drill. He advised I chill like a motherfucker and down some shitty carbonated beverage, what a champ. :D
Sequel to this post-- they're shot at such a similar angle you can toggle between the two and spot the differences. Not like I've tried that. At the time I took this photo, I hadn't fixed the smudge in his teeth and repaired his right horn. Because just when his paint had dried, I dropped him, like a dipshit. :I
I made a tiny Davesprite for my friend as a early christmas gift 0u0
Tiny sculpting is fun but FRUSTRATING HOW DO YOU DO IT ALL THE TIME MANDY SERIOUSLY...........

Guys! :O I need your feedback!
Eeeee, I just want to smoosh your cheeks! <3 Questions are fine! They're pretty much welcome, always. And, oh boy. I have all these pictures and half-made tutorials that basically answer all these questions, but I'm kind of having trouble with how long-winded and detailed I should be with these subjects. See, when I began sculpting, I read a variety of tutorials, but most of them sort of assumed the reader was already in the know, sculpting-wise, so I had to make a lot of assumptions and guesses at first. And I can see how that would be confusing or intimidating for beginners or might want to get into scuplting. So I ask you guys, what do you like to see in your tutorials? Would people like to see something lengthy that focuses on little details and insights on a broad range of subjects to help beginners become familiar to sculpting, or a more casual tutorial that would skip on explanations in order to talk about the process that works best for me? Do text-heavy tutorials seem overwhelming or not worth reading? Would photos and visuals help explain better than words? I'd like any input you might have before I actually set to post anything.
Thanks to everyone who's been curious about commissions! :>
Sadly -- and this sucks, it sucks hard in the least suggestible way-- I'm no longer taking commissions. When I did, I severely under-charged, and that almost never covered the price for the materials used to make them, nevermind the time spent making them. As much as I wanted to make these figurines available to everyone, it stopped feeling like a fun, rewarding hobby after a while. On top of that, and more importantly, I was making these without Hussie's permission, and making money off his creativity to boot, and I don't want to continue doing that. It sucks, because I love Homestuck and this fandom, and this was my way to throw my love into this crazy potluck of creativity and dizzying talent this fandom has spawned. But I guess I had to face the reality sooner or later. :[
Now Aradia grub! Three more to go!
