DISCLAIMER: This could, and likely is, all bullshit since I don't actl know anything about programming or neural nets beyond what I've read in articles over the years and so am mostly just drawing connections btw disparate info laying around in my head, but it's a theory that I've been worrying at and want to get out of my head so I'm putting it Here u_u
=========
I feel like not enough ppl understand that LLM "Hallucinations" aren't Hallucinations(that this is a metaphor and all metaphors are inaccurate), but rather an artifact of data-manipulation programs operating within a data-based environment. What do I mean by that?
When programmers first started playing around with neural nets in the 00s(or I guess: when they started getting results they wanted to talk about publicly), a problem they ran into pretty much every time is that the NNs would "cheat". They were programs designed to analyze and manipulate data(they have to have that access to self-iterate) to answer "queries"(in colloquial: to solve problems they were tasked to solve) and, PRETTY regularly, they would provide those "answers" by leveraging exploits in the programs they were tasked to interact with, much like a speedrunner would, for the simple reason that these were the most-efficient solutions to reach. How do I draw a line of pixels over this bar? Well I just stack-overflow the column so a pixel appears at the top of the NEXT column, obvsl.
And this is what "hallucinations" are. When you ask an LLM a question and it "lies", it's not doing that bc it's "stupid" or "evil" or "fucking with you" or whatever other reason a person might lie to you(They are Not People); it does it because it isn't charged with "understanding" the question or topic -things it simply cannot do- but with "providing an answer the user will accept", and sometimes a lie(which could be described as a data-exploit) is an easier and quicker "answer the user will accept" than a "real" one, which again: is a distinction these programs can't really make bc the concept is beyond them. This is also why they flatter users so much: most ppl are more willing to accept a flattering answer than a non-flattering one, so flattering answers get accepted more, so the programs "learn" flattery solves queries more efficiently.
These aren't "hallucinations" or "glitches"; they're the programs working precisely as they are designed to do, within data systems riddled with unintended exploits(the programmers coding itself, and human minds).
Kiriona has ALLOT of reasons to be pissed when she shows up in Nona the Ninth as many TLT fan-writers have already pointed out but one thing that just occurred to me:
Given the way she woke up she must have been SUPER PISSED, Specifically, at Palamedes and Camilla for letting this FUCKING IMPOSTER run around KISSING PEOPLE with Harrow's body all willy-nilly XD Like:
My Treacherous Midnight Haggette does not PLAY Like this HOW DARE YOU?!?!?!? XD XD
zA's Idle Political Theorizing
Was doing some Idle Thinking and it turned into this, So:
Fascism is Political Assholery, i.e., Being an Asshole as Political Theory, Ideology, and Social Organizing Principle.
Conservatism is Hierarchy, which is Specialness as a Political Theory, Ideology, and Social Organizing Principle.
Fascism often Grows OUT of Conservatism because the Object of Assholery is to Do Fuckery to Others without them being able to Do Anything About It, which by definition makes the Asshole "Special" in relation to their victims since the Asshole can do what they cannot. Thus: Assholery is fundamentally Hierarchical.
This is why we occasionally see Fascism grow out of different political ideologies: The Bolsheviks, in following the Vanguard-model of Communism, were trying to establish The Party as the Hierarch over every other institution in their societies through revolutionary violence; Violence is a form of Assholery, thus led them into Fascism despite their theoretical opposition to it(The Russian Bolshevik party also organized itself INTERNALLY through violence; yet another source of Assholery, and in-turn Fascism).
This is also why Fascism Doesn't Work. The Goal of every official in a Fascist Regime is to be as Big an Asshole to Everyone Else as They Can Get Away With, and that naturally leads to hostility and conflict rather than cooperation, which makes shit breakdown. When two underlings Fuck Everything Up Fucking with Each Other, the only solution is for someone empowered to Do Fuckery unto both of them to step in and "Fix" the problem by being an Even Bigger Asshole, which takes their time, focus, and institutional resources away from what they're SUPPOSED to be doing, which slows everything down and fucks everything up.
Incidentally this is ALSO why Hierarchy Doesn't Work, because one person simply doesn't have the time and resources to do everything, or even OK every question, themselves.
This is why Democracy, "Anarchy", and Socialism are the only long-term, stable political systems: their core principles are Let's Talk This Out and You Know Your Shit Better than I Do, which both breaks down decision making into smaller bits and distributes it among the populace, and also discourages Assholery.

One of the really interesting/instructive things about VR finally getting to a place where it operates more or less like scifi always envisioned it(relatively lightweight headsets; hand controls) has been finding out that it's actually Shit for information processing. Like: Great for entertainment applications apparently(I've never used it tbf and I'm not currently interested in doing so), seeing HUGE use for just, like, Hanging Out online in improbable spaces, but from everything I've heard/read it's not only clunky and slow for navigating/organizing/processing information, but that whole Thing of "grabbing" and moving stuff around, resizing it and the like, seems to make some people really nauseous.
So, while VR's THERE now, we're probably not going to see VR interfaces taking over internet use anytime soon, cuz it turns out that terminal computers are just Functionally Better -faster, more legible, more comfortable to use- at navigating, organizing, and manipulating data. So like: it seems like we'll definitely have a future of Randos hanging out in impossible cyberbars wearing infinitely creative bodies, but coders will still be out Here, typing away at mechanical keyboards plugged into towers :p
Most Space Opera envisions interplanetary trade as just a larger scale version of planetary trade(and tbf: this is because most space opera is exploring real-world politics allegorically rather than being genuinely speculative), but the reality is(barring the invention of large-scale teleportation, which would put an end to the shipping-trade anyway) it is just SO MUCH Easier to grow all the food for a given population on that planet than to ship it in from somewhere else. Even if we're talking Ecumenopoloi(EDIT: Planet-wide Cities, not city-wide Planets >:T Thanks Brain), a few relatively small "Gardens" maintained in choice regions would do a better job of feeding the populace than shipping produce from off-world.
Currently watching The Native Bigfoot by Trey the Explainer and, beyond the fact that claims of a Pan-American tradition of Native Bigfoot stories are wildly exaggerated(i.e: made up by Euros), I think we should consider how this Euro desire to LOOK for shared mythological and religious beliefs is ITSELF a cultural artifact of European history.
Like: with the Interpretatio Graecae, the Romans carrying forward that practice in their OWN religious imperialism, the LONG history of Christian evangelical syncretism with local cult and custom(by this I dont just mean claiming the holy sites, days, and deities of indigenous traditions as secretly Christian, but also the tendency to include local european deities as evil spirits within a christian cosmology); Europeans have a good 2000 years, at LEAST, of this universalizing, ecumenical behavior, and we ought to consider how this Euro impulse to assert commonalities in mythologies and religions may be expressing itself through the mythmaking about "the native bigfoot".
