elizabeth returns from the Witch Queen’s palace, dressed in a deep purple velvet gown with a plunging neckline and long loose sleeves. her makeup is flawlessly applied, sharp black liner and purple lips in a crooked smile. she’s no longer blood stained or sobbing, but even the makeup cannot hide the dark circles under her eyes.
she makes an appearance before the kingdom, gets crowned the newest queen, and immediately sets to changing the laws she’s always seen as cruel and unfair.
she avoids catherine like the plague, only hanging around leander and occasionally harley. but she cannot hide forever.
a knock sounds at her door one night, while elizabeth is getting ready for bed. her makeup is gone, revealing deep circles under her eyes and a pale face. “who’s there?”
a small piece of paper is shoved under the door. it's crinkly in the way that only something drenched in sweat and then dried could be, and the handwriting on it is rushed yet familiar. some of the note is crossed out but still legible.
"i understand if you are no longer in need of my services need space. but it has been a while and i would at least like to know what's wrong. i will be waiting outside this door for the whole night and then i will leave. you don't have to answer if you don't want to see me."
