As someone who minored in journalism and uses all the knowledge that I obtained from school to start this blog, it hurts to see how far journalism as a whole has sunk. People will twist anything for attention and approval. Meanwhile, this sh*t stain of a journalist thinks he can just insert a tiny camera onto a rooftop and take a picture of Tsunagu and Mari without their consent. These are the types of cameras that Korean women are afraid of when they go use the public restrooms because of nonconsensual shots! What this guy is doing a crime, yet people are quick to blame Tsunagu all because he’s a beastman and that makes him an easy target. Yukihiro is too nice because I’d be slapping him because violence is non-consensual, just like Kinari’s actions!

The fact that the school isn’t really doing much for Tsunagu sucks. He’s been working hard to attend human school so that he can achieve his dream of being a doctor for the beastfolk, yet because of someone’s lies, they’re considering a leave of absence for him. It just shows that they aren’t really willing to accommodate beastfolk and don’t really know how to deal with situations revolving around prejudice…yet it was the school’s decision to take in a beastfolk as a student. It feels hypocritical… Fortunately, the class aside from those two jerks don’t believe in the article as they know Tsunagu is a good guy. I honestly like that Ochi kicked one of the jerks’ chair when they were talking bad about Tsunagu, which shows some positive development on his part.

I honestly am happy that Mari is not written as a weak-willed shoujo heroine because she’s not moping about the circumstances, but is trying her best to help out. I get that people might be questioning why she isn’t speaking up by telling people she wasn’t assaulted, but people might just make more nasty assumptions and would probably gaslight her as well. I’m glad that she was going off on the guidance counselor Hamashima, who’s voiced by Ryoka Yuzuki who voiced Taiki’s mother in Blue Box, Ino Yamanaka in Naruto and Satsuki Kiryuin in Kill La Kill.

Man, the whole slanderous article bit really soured my mood. I can’t feel happy for the Yukihiro and Kisara moments. They’re so cute, but the bitter aftertaste of what happens afterwards sucks. It’s funny how I want Natsuki Hanae to voice more villainous characters and this asshole is probably the most vile out of his repertoire so far…and he’s from a furry shoujo anime! I’m going to end this review here before I blow my lid off completely. Let me know your thoughts on this episode!

There was a lot of Ochi focus in this episode, surprisingly. The fact that his “friends” beat him up showed that they weren’t really his friends at all. His interactions with Mari does hint at a possible integration into her friend group. I don’t think he’ll develop a crush on her, but more of a respect towards her and her optimism. Since his whole character does seem to revolve around insecurities, especially towards the beast folk, it does make me wonder if he’ll be the one to develop a side story with the newly introduced feline beast folk Kisara?

Also, what is it with stories with beast men that draws female humanoid beasts with human hair while males are just fur and ears? Like, it is a little weird that female beast humans do tend to look a bit more human compared to males who just look like walking animals. Maybe I’m just weirdly nitpicking since it’s something I do see in monster tamer games like Pokemon for example. Anyways, Kisara is finally introduced and I honestly love her design despite my earlier gripes about female beast human designs. The fact that she has piercings on one of her ears is so cool. I do wonder what the differences between canine and feline beast folk are because I think this is the first feline beast folk introduced into the story as previous ones have been canines, whether it be Tsunagu, his father, or random beast folks in the street.

Tsunagu and Mari also had their sweet moments like sharing a kiss and even having her blow dry him. However, I did enjoy the Yukihiro moments a bit more as he’s doing his best to not be a toxic second lead. He loves Mari but also cares a lot about Tsunagu, hence why he’s trying his best not to be a snake. I honestly feel a bit bad for him since he’s fighting a losing battle and he already knows that. I do like that he doesn’t take advantage of the fact that the idea of him dating Mari is technically more accepted by society than her being in a relationship with Tsunagu. Gosh, liking Yukihiro can be so complicated at times because you want him to be happy, yet you also want the best for him. I wonder if he’ll get his own love interest…

Kisara is voiced by Ai Kakuma, who voices characters like Cure Prism/Mashiro Nijigaoka from Hirogaru Sky Precure, Yukime from Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube and Runa Sasaki from My Love Story With Yamada At Lv 999. Her voice is distinct, so I was able to recognize it just by hearing it. I honestly can’t wait to see what sort of performance she’ll give as Kisara next week.

I honestly enjoyed the chibi Tsunagu faces in this episode; the one where he is wet is probably one of the best ones so far. I feel like someone needs to make a compilation of the chibi Tsunagu faces because they’re so cute! Let me know your thoughts on this episode!

Tsunagu and Mari’s relationship has evolved into a situationship as they both have feelings for each other that they’re aware of yet they’re still not dating due to interspecies complications. Yet, it’s not going to stop either of them from loving each other—in fact, I feel like the situationship is only making their love stronger. A glimpse of Tsunagu’s parents are shown in this episode as well as his mother’s voice, meaning that she lives in the beast folk village. His mother’s hair color is a bit darker, but it’s on the same color spectrum as Mari’s. I just hope his feelings for her isn’t some kind of weird Oedipus complex where both mother and future girlfriend resemble each other.

The story transitions into the sports festival portion of the typical school life story. Tsunagu is allowed to participate, so he gets to have his share of fun from overpowering everyone in the relay to befriending another person in his class named Taori who was initially scared of him at first but turned her thoughts around after witnessing his kindness. He also got to have nice moments with Mari as well. I think the nice thing about the sports festival is seeing Ochi having a slow change of opinion on Tsunagu. He’s slowly warming up to him, but it’s going to be a long process. I think that his issues with the beastfolk is mostly stemmed from his friends and not him… I honestly liked that nothing bad happened to Mari because usually, something bad would happen with the haters, yet Ochi told them to leave her alone and nothing else escalated from it.

Taori is voiced by Maria Naganawa, who voiced Komugi from Wonderful Precure who happens to be a dog. On top of that, Tsunagu’s father is voiced by Ryota Takeuchi who voiced Ren in Dramatical Murder who is also a dog… Is this episode some sort of secret gathering of seiyuus who voiced a dog in their career?

Anyways, I can’t wait to see what happens next. What’s going to happen next in their romantic journey? When will they make it official? Let me know your thoughts on this episode!

Since Mari and Tsunagu aren’t officially dating and are in a situationship, insensitive questions on if they’re dating gets the person asking punished, which I like. I like how Yukihiro and Ritsuka attacked Ikeda on different occasions. They are aware of Mari’s feelings, but don’t want to complicate things for her and for others. Still, it’s also sweet of Ayano and Ritsuka to make Mari spend time with Tsunagu whenever they have a break.

First off, we do see a bit of Ochi in this episode. He’s helping out Yukihiro with passing flyers. While he can easily grab female customers with his good looks and charm, he doesn’t like superficiality and wants to be honest and true. As Yukihiro noticed that he doesn’t hang out with his two friends anymore, he almost offered him to join his little crew before Kisara interrupted. It does make me wonder what sort of storyline Ochi has as he’s quite the mystery. Taori also shows up in this episode and it does make me wonder if she’s developing feelings for Tsunagu.

And yes, Kisara does show up, but as Mari’s friend as she invited her. She’s not very good with crowds and there’s also a conflict that revolve around her where she gets sexually harassed by human male visitors who were trying to hit on Mari and thought Kisara was a girl who was wearing a cat hoodie. The fact that they learned that she’s a beastfolk caused their demeanor to shift from chill to anger. It does come off as prejudice and a bit racist as they stopped being interested in Kisara the moment they found out she’s a beastfolk, so she’s not appealing to them anymore. Anyways, those guys suck and I’m glad they were turned over to the committee. They seem like young adults, so it does feel icky that they were trying to hit on high schooler Mari who’s turning 16 soon.

The little twist that their cafe is actually a beastfolk cafe was hilarious. Kisara was baffled as she didn’t think that humans would actually do such a concept. Still, it’s sweet of the class to come up with it real quickly just in case if someone had a bad opinion of Tsunagu. It really shows how much they care about him as a person and not just his race. Kokonoha, the glasses guy, even shows his love and respect for the beastfolk to the point that he made a manual for what’s acceptable to beastfolk for humans. He doesn’t want to appropriate their culture in a sense. Though, kid, don’t think about becoming a beastfolk—don’t become someone like Oli London…

There’s also some potential ship tease between Yukihiro and Kisara as they got some cute moments together. However, since it’s already Episode 10, it’s definitely not going to be resolved, but just a thing. Still, it’s sweet that Kisara was able to remember his name, which shows that she’s good at listening and respects others even if she met them briefly. She did brush her tail on his hand and even said that him donning a horse head is weird. He even walks her home as it’s dangerous at night and that she chose him to take her back. Though, there was a true purpose: she can detect his feelings for Mari; however, he knows she has feelings for Tsunagu. I wonder how this will be resolved next week…

By the way, Kokonoha is voiced by Yuki Sakakibara who voiced Neil in Secrets of the Silent Witch, Tamao in Yohaji and Hirose in the upcoming Nakamura-kun anime. Ikeda, the blond guy with the ponytail, is voiced by Kentaro Kumagai, who voiced Laios in Delicious in Dungeon. It’s interesting how these rather known names pop up here and there.

Anyways, what do you think is going to happen with this Yukihiro and Kisara thing? There are only two more episodes left, so they’re definitely not going to be a side ship just yet.
