Why did you disappear?
Uh… well…
CW: Long Post
I guess the main reason were my parents. They sort of blocked every avenue to push my stuff online. I was a minor back then so I get their intention in that regard, but it was more of a… control thing. And it sucked. I had no way to connect back to my friends and a lot of my trust in people on the internet were shattered because of that. I guess that was more favorable than… being in actual danger, but it still made me lose a lot of my creative spark and engagement with art in general. With college (crazy how time flies) and life nowadays, it’s harder to connect with the good parts of the internet. Tumblr was an amazing space, and I met so many cool people by just being a little anon on the internet. So, why did I write this? I feel like this has been a chapter I’ve closed but never really said on the internet until now. And… now I did. It feels surreal. All my energy to try and re-enter Tumblr anonymously has faded, and I don’t think I can really try again. I use social media as a way to connect with people I know in-person now, so mentally it seems like two very different spaces. And also, I don’t really do art as I used to - I just draw what I feel like whenever instead of concentrating it into a fandom. I loved my blog, but MAN did I box myself into Sanders Sides and only make art on that. I don’t think I have the energy to do asks or anything anymore (unless you want quick doodles, that’s fine).
I’m realizing this post just makes it seem like I’m complaining about age LOL, but it’s true that time does change you. I did make an art post for old time’s sake on my main blog if you’d like to see it! That’ll probably be my final post (until Meta destroys Instagram and I have no desire to use social media the way I do now). These blogs aren’t getting deleted, though - I consider these as artifacts of memory for me to look back on and maybe engage once in a while with.
Tumblr was such a pivotal moment of my life, and I’ll miss you all. I peeked at my old platonic wives’s blogs (@thecrowinacrown and @tastic-in-its-finest), and I’m so proud of you both :) (no idea if you’re going to see this post LOL)
Take it easy, guys, gals, and non-binary pals :) It’s time for this kitchen utensil to head out of the cupboard, officially :) Farewell :D
Peace out,
Yuki :)
