unexpected frustration... I live on Yuwi country, the land of the Yuibera/Yuwibera people. But as far as I can get with online research, this *place*, this area of the town that I live in, has no name in language.
I've made a note at the bottom of my WIP, should I ever finish it, to go and find it out (there are personal reasons why I'm not investing the effort up-front) because in my head, in my WIP's world, we didn't lose most of our indigenous language. People aren't trying to revive it from the fragments of virtually nothing.
I'm not indigenous, but I do love this place, this land where I have laid my head for the last 12 years, and I want to capture some of its heart in this WIP. If I can, I want to do a tiny piece to call to her.
This WIP is mostly about being neurodivergent, at being pathologised as 'superpower'ed, about the cost of masking, and the cost of not. But it's also about a version of my home, my heart, and that version shouldn't be intolerably white.
