So Asher, Daaz, Kav, and Noel have preferred language.

Raif and Yren, generally speaking, do not have a preference on language.

Myloriens in general tend to not have strong gender identities or preferences. Culturally speaking gender has been unimportant for a long time and they've not had things like "strong gender roles" for centuries. And they tend to also not have strong language preferences in this area either when dealing in other languages.

So typically their mentality is "whatever language people default to is fine for me."

This isn't true for everyone, of course, and like all cultures, there are a range of gender identities. Some identify strongly with what we'd consider a male or masculine presentation, others with a feminine presentation. Others are more androgynous but some want nothing to do with any sort of 'categories' or the concept of gender at all.

And Raif is kind of like this. He does not like when people put a lot of focus on gender as part of his identity. He doesn't have a preference language-wise and really doesn't mind how people refer to him but he hates when it feels that people are putting undue attention on language or where he fits in the gender spectrum. He would never direct people towards specific language and generally tells people "whatever you want." He "uses" he/him and they/them because the English speaking people he knows default to those things. No one he knows uses she/her but he wouldn't correct it if they did. Some people pick up on his dislike for the concept of gender and use neutral language for him, which he's fine with. So this is why people use a blend of language for him - and he's fine with it. He will generally not direct anyone towards specific language.

Yren's mindset is similar to Raif but different in that he doesn't have any particular antipathy towards the concept of gender like Raif does. He would generally call himself a man or, if asked, he might tell people that the language of he/him is totally fine. Because he understands this is how most people will naturally perceive him and he's totally fine with them doing so. He knows most people are likely to see him and put him in whatever is the (or one of the) "masculine" oriented gender(s) for their species. At the same time, if someone referred to him as "nonbinary" or used they/them (or any other neutral language) with him, he'd be fine with it and not correct it. If someone used feminine language for him, he wouldn't correct or be bothered by it but he'd kind of go "That was a surprise👀" where Raif probably wouldn't even clock that it had happened in most situations.
