(( @thoughtsmash said it pretty well last night but I’m really tired of comic Bruce/Betty’s current dynamic. Either they should get properly divorced and move on from each other, or they should reconcile (and go to couple’s counseling) and get back together. As it is, they’ve been bitter and angry and resentful with each other for at least a decade now and every interaction they’ve had since Betty came back to life plays out EXACTLY THE SAME FUCKING WAY NEARLY EVERY TIME. They look like they might be able to start something up again, but then someone touches a nerve and they start shouting and Hulking out. Them having relationship problems made sense early on but after a while any conflict that comes up between them is just manufactured for the drama, not organic conflict rising up between the characters and I’m. Just. So. Tired. It’s probably my autism talking but I like MCU Bretty much more at this point. Like yeah there’s only one movie of it, but at least its straightforward “two people date because they like each other.” Not being stuck in “will they won’t they (get back together)” hell. ))

“Ah---good, yeah. As good as I can be, you know. Very busy, but I’m guessing you already know that. I--what about you? How have you been? Where are you working now?” It was surreal to be in her company again, glad to hear that nothing between them had become negative.

“Doctor Ross,” She was definitely using the fake voice. The meeting a new person voice. It wasn’t even intentional, more instinct than anything else --- meant to make her seem less threatening, more palatable. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I’ve had some... encounters with your father, so I’ve heard quite a bit about you.”

“That guy ᴡᴀs an asshole.”

“I guess it sounds weird considering the vast age difference but he’s my best friend, the little brother I never had. Rick’s a good kid. A little goofy maybe but he’s young, he should cherish it. Don’t know why he sticks around a grouchy old woman like me. Well, I do, but I think his loyalty is a bit misplaced, even though I appreciate it all the same. He made the early days after the transformation bearable, you know? I had someone to talk to about it, someone to keep the secret and help me. He’s stuck around throughout everything and I wish I could give him everything he’s given me with interest.”

“Thanks.” He mumbled, a tiny chuckle of embarrassment slipping from his lips. “I’m useless with these things.” 

Letting out a happy sigh, Bryce leaned into the kiss Betty was giving her, a very faint purr rumbling in her chest.
