At the age of 15, Louise Braille invented braille so that he and other blind people could read. In 1942, young teenager Anne Frank narrated her horrific experiences during World War II, not knowing that years later her diary would become a significant cultural embodiment of the war’s loss of youth. After reading an article about child labour, 12-year-old Craig Kielburger started Free the Children, with the goal of helping suffering young people around the world.

Although these three figures are from very different time periods, as far back as the 1800s, in their immense contribution to societal change, they have much in common. All under the age of 15 and through their own individual initiatives, each saw a problem in their society and expressed a desire for change.

While Louise Braille and Craig Kielburger were able to consciously initiate their dreams, Anne Frank’s dire situation was limiting. But, despite her situation, her insightfully detailed documentation of her experience still had the ability to cause change.

Despite age, an individual has the capacity to make a difference. Youth Effect aspires to empower, engage and share youth’s ideas, with the goal of developing their passions into actions that can spark social change. To accomplish this goal, we will focus on top trending topics, inspirational ideas, and even comments from the community that stand out. By addressing and, in some cases, offering mentorship on hot topics, we hope to start a transformative movement among youth.

As young people, we have fresh perspectives that are untouched by the often cynical views of professional society. We ask the hard questions and are not as afraid to challenge traditional perspectives. Become part of our movement.
