“  Obviously  not.  I  was  hoping  for  someone  taller.  ”  And  no,  he  doesn’t  particularly  care  that  his  apparent  bride-to-be  may  take  offense  to  that.  Or,  who  knows,  maybe  she  won’t  be  offended  in  the  slightest,  because  if  there’s  one  constant  about  this,  it’s  the  uncertainty  of  a  marriage  in  the  first  place.  Luckily,  most  of  his  displeasure  in  this  situation  is  hidden,  though  that  doesn’t  mean  crueler  words  aren’t  waiting  just  beneath  his  calm  exterior.  If  she  has  any  sense  at  all,  she’ll  be  just  as  unhappy  about  this  as  he  is,  and  that  alone  should  be  enough  of  a  reason  for  him  to  control  himself.  Hopefully,  neither  of  them  are  getting  any  joy  out  of  this.

Aside  from  his  personal  feelings,  there  is  a  reason  this  is  happening.  No  matter  how  much  he  may  protest,  his  position  as  prince  has  always  demanded  that  he  be  wed  to  one  of  the  most  eligible  women.  His  duty  comes  before  his  own  feelings,  and  since  he  has  always  shoved  his  feelings  down  in  favor  of  literally  anything  else,  why  is  it  now  that  he  wants  to  change  that?  Why  only  now  does  he  believe  things  should  be  different?

   MAKOTO WOULD BE LYING IF HE SAID this wasn’t concerning to hear, even if Masaomi says it in a more lighthearted tone. Head tilts the slightest bit, and his brows furrow, trying to figure out the right response— it’s hard when he doesn’t have the full picture. Still, Makoto has no choice but to try his best here!

   MAKOTO’S REACTION to just those two words, even as they suggest the exact opposite, doesn’t really manage to seem relaxed at all. The shift in his expression is more than obvious— wide, bright green eyes and mouth slightly agape that only adds to the final, flustered product. Honestly, he feels like he should be cut some slack here! Average in most everything, he sometimes finds its hard to relax as much as he probably should when he has no clue what he’s doing.

    HE SHAKES HIS HEAD ALMOST RIGHT AWAY, the corners of his lips tugging into what he hopes is a reassuring enough smile. “Ah, no! No, not at all. You aren’t doing anything wrong, really.” A light exhale follows his words, hands held up a bit as if to say he doesn’t mind at all. Sure, maybe the conversation had begun to get a little carried away, but he’s always found himself interested in the things his classmates have to say! Whether fascination towards their abilities or casual talk across the dining hall table, Makoto usually wants to listen no matter what.

     THIS ISN’T MAKOTO’S FIRST TIME DEALING with the despairs, pieces of the legacy Junko Enoshima left in her wake, scattered and torn by the ideas unwillingly instilled in their heads— if only they hadn’t been misfortunate enough to get caught in all of this, then...they would have had a chance at being okay. it’s why Makoto never begins to place true blame on their shoulders. The Future Foundation’s intent on killing all remaining hints of despair has never sat right with him, not once, which is why he vows to handle it a DIFFERENT one. Bring them back from their despair, give them a chance to heal. 

     He stills at the sound of the other’s voice, only for a moment. There, Makoto is sure to keep his feet planted to the ground, stood opposite Mikado, the determined glint in his gaze not once daring to flicker. He’s been told the same plenty of times. It isn’t always easy to convince others of his outlook on the world, difficult to avoid criticism or doubt, but Makoto REFUSES to falter.

   CAUGHT BY SURPRISE, Makoto’s face immediately grows flush, the sudden red tinge obvious against pale, freckled skin before he averts his wide-eyed gaze, going from flustered to EMBARRASSED by his own reaction in seconds flat. What is he reacting so intensely for?! It wouldn’t be the first time Aoba has said something surprising, but this time, sweat begins to dot the back of his neck as he realizes how oddly close they stand and how their identical heights leave him with no choice but to stare right at the other’s face an-

the cold eyes of the pharma company’s ceo survey the small girl before her. she’s small. weak. pitifully and obviously so. does she think that spouting her weaknesses like this will make her more likeable? that namie would take pity on her?

...it’s laughable. perhaps men might pity her doe-eyed plea, may wish to take her under their wing, but namie has never been so open-hearted. there is only room in her heart for one, and he is all she will ever need. it’s efficient, to only care for one person. useless thoughts don’t crowd your head that way. and with the girl tagging by her heels, she wonders how no one else seems to have found this clear solution. nobody needs any more than one person. the rest? chaff to be thrown out and scattered to the wind.
