There is no control
I'm living with my aunt right now. Her kids are fucking spoiled.
-------
Okay so most suburban parents spoil their kids. I know this.
-------
I digress. They scream at her, they yell at her, and they get what they want.
I'd like to point out that she has an asshole of an exhusband who has been trying to turn his kids against their mother. This is not one of those every divorced dad is awful stories. He's just an asshole. He would treat her badly regardless of having kids with her.
But it's still difficult to hear the fighting every night before bed and every morning before school. At dinner time, at breakfast time, etc. Even over the TV.
You obviously cannot control other people, no matter small or young they are. You can try to get them to do what you want them to do, but they will make choices that you may not like whether you like it or not. But these kids need some discipline. They need someone to make them realize that they are mere children in a world of adults.
I love these kids. I really do. But I'm not their mom or sister. I'm just a cousin. I can't discipline if their mom won't be consistent (especially since their dad seems to just do whatever). I'd like to add in that these kids probably need some form of therapy. This divorce has been rough on them and my aunt.
