First post, didn’t know what to say so here’s some facts about the origin of towels, lotion, and lip filler:
1. Towels are believed to have originated from Bursa in the 1700s. Also known as pestamals, they were flat and woven clothes, often made with linen or cotton. They were used in Turkish baths (also known as hammams)
2. Lotion dates back to ancient civilizations, and there’s evidence of some form of moisturizer being used as early as 3000 BC. People like the ancient Egyptians and Sumerians used natural ingredients like animals fats, oils, and honey to make the earliest form of lotions. Ancient Greeks and Roman’s used olive oil for moisturizing as well.
3. Lip filler shockingly dates back to the early 1900s, where Paraffin was one of the first substances used, however it was quickly abandoned because of safety concerns. Because of course it had safety concerns, it was the early 1900s and people back then ate radium for breakfast. Later on in the 1960s another substance was used called liquid silicone, but that too was found to have long-term health issues. In the 1980s bovine collagen was used, however it needed allergy testing beforehand and was short-term. But not long after in the 1990s hyaluronic acid fillers was used, and we still use it today.
Hopefully this reaches the right audience, might just post random things from now on whenever I feel like it. Feel free to add anything u want in the comments, or just ramble about hyper-fixations, I might respond, might not. Eh don’t count on it. Have a good day yall. 👉😎👉
