I don’t need wooing.

I need a life partner, to laugh at the good times with me and hold me during the bad times. Someone who gets that my family is part of me, just as are my anxieties, hopes, and dreams. Someone who I know I will always be able to count on and trust.

I need Jim.

Jim and I had our first date at a little restaurant down on the beach in Southern California. After we ate, we walked along the sand and talked and talked.

It was a beautiful spot but on an unusually rainy day. There weren’t many other people there, with the crappy weather and all.

I really didn’t care about any of that though. What made that date perfect wasn’t the location or the food or the service or the weather. I have no idea what we even talked about.

But I remember the feeling. Of comfort and exhilaration at the same time. I couldn’t learn enough about him, yet I felt like I had known him forever. And I felt so, so happy.

Fantasy

What an open ended prompt!

If we are talking fantasy football, I’m not having a good year. I made the mistake of drafting Le’Veon Bell for my first round pick. Sigh.

If you want to know my greatest fantasy, it’s actually come true.

Back when I was mired in depression, stuck on a rock in the middle of nowhere, married to a man who disliked me so much that he couldn’t bring himself to have sex with me any more, I used to dream of the impossible.

I would fantasize about what it would be like to be with a man who loved me, who constantly showed me how much he cared, and who found me desirable.

I dreamed of actually being happy, living somewhere that I loved, and in a good marriage. But I saw that dream as unattainable, a ridiculous fantasy.

I was so scared of the hell I would have to go through to get to that place. I saw it as needing to cross a chasm. I just couldn’t imagine that I would ever be able to get to the other side.

I was right. It was hell. But it wasn’t impossible. And now, I’m living happily ever after, literally on the other side of the ocean.

This one is easy! Moving in with Jim.

I’m happier than I’ve been in decades. He is definitely the right man for me.

We travel well together, have common interests, look out for each other, and the sex is fantastic.
