No, you know what I actually miss about being an HP fan in the era when the books were being released? The midnight release parties. Could I safely go to such a party now, no, not without screwing over my health seven ways to Sunday, but I miss them. I miss the excitement, the shared camaraderie with a bunch of other fans I didn't know, the mini-games and contests with their silly prizes. The snacks, the fanart, the conversations. I miss THAT.
Book release parties were fun and cool, and I miss those, and I don't even hear about them happening any more for anything else. Closest I found was a PDF for making your own private party for the release of the last book in Sarah J. Maas's Throne of Glass series. I honestly miss release parties, and I feel like they'd be even cooler these days, with how much things have changed since then.

I’m finishing up a re-read of The Shining and I just finished Carrie before I started the re-read...so now I want to write a King’verse fic that crosses over, and as I’m still very much a Stephen King newbie, I needed to reblog those.
