9 months had gone since the last time you saw him. 9 months since you last held his hand and heard him say that everything was going to be okay. It had been 285 days and you were still missing him. Having his face on your wall, praying every night that he was happy and okay. It had been 285 days since you said one phrase, one big lie.

”I’ll come back” you said smiling at him. He gave you a big smile and made a pinky promise. 

“It’s a promise” he answered. You smiled at him and walked off stage when you remembered it all. You were supposed to say goodbye.

Living in a different country from your idol wasn’t something you thought was tough before meeting him. But after you met him, everything changed. Something happened that day that made your heart burst. Now thinking back, you couldn’t help but smile. You had been in love with him for One year.

4 months ago a survival show ended, a show that had been going on for a year. You were supposed to be on the final but with it ended earlier, you didn’t make it. You sat in your room looking at the stream seeing him not making it to the final top. You knew that you never would see him again. That your chance was gone.

”What are you thinking about?” your friend asked as she took a sip of her coffee. You shook your head with a smile. You looked around in the coffee shop and noticed how beautiful it was.

”So how is school?” you asked. She sighed and looked out, like something was wrong.

”It’s going down.. I’m exhausted”

You gave her a supporting smile while she laughed it away. She looked behind you having a small glimpse of something she liked. You rolled your eyes and followed her gaze, as you saw someone. It was like your whole world stopped.

”Isn’t he cute? He reminds me of an alpaca” she said. You gulped and felt the heat getting stronger. He noticed your stare and smiled towards you, making your heart burst. You bit your lip looking at your friend with a stare. She looked at you confused.

”What’s wrong?”

”It’s him”

”Who?”

”Yongkwon”

”The guy you’ve been crushing on for like a year?” she asked. You quickly nodded and panicked while getting your coat. You walked towards the cashier while meeting his gaze. You bowed and was on your way out when a voice stopped you.

”You don’t want some coffee before leaving? It’s cold outside” he said. You turned around smiling towards him.

”I don’t really drink coffee..”

”Hot chocolate?”

”Sounds perfect” you answered. You walked to the cashier and looked at him making your drink. You studied him and felt a bit happier seeing a smile on his face, a real smile.

”Have we met somewhere?” he suddenly asked. You nodded slowly while looking down.

”We met 283 days ago” you said. He looked at you with big eyes and laughed a little as he tried to remember.

”Hmm.. I’m not good with Math” he said. You laughed and got your Chocolate.

”White Day”

”Ahh of all days too” he answered laughing. You smiled and nodded. Your eyes met once again and you blushed a little and tried to say goodbye.

”Ey.. Before you leave! I left my number on the cup, so text me if you want to! ” he said. You stared at him and then the cup wondering why.

”W…” you started.

”I want to know where we met”

You walked out of the door towards the subway thinking about what just happened. You of all people wouldn’t meet him this way. And you of all people wouldn’t get his number. You weren’t beautiful as the Korean girls were. You were just a foreigner.

But he gave you his number.

Later that night you texted him with the information of how you met. One little text, ended up with conversations all night. Questions about Christmas Eve showed up, and when you heard that he was working all day you smiled. You found a reason to spend a Christmas Eve in a coffee shop.

”Merry Christmas” your mom said through the phone. You waved towards the camera and walked into the coffee shop, feeling the smell of Christmas. You looked around seeing it empty. You walked to the cashier where he stood quite bored playing games on his phone.

”I brought food” you said holding up Thai food. He laughed and let you in behind the cashier. You smiled at him and sat down on one of the chairs looking around.

”Why are you here?” he asked. You looked at your food.

”I’m here studying, and I’m way too poor to go back home” you answered. He nodded and smiled. You looked at him for a while.

”So are we spending our day here?” you asked.

”Yes a day in a coffee shop with coffee” he said with a smirk. You made a disgusting look and laughed. You ate your food, and directly brought your book towards a table to study. You sat down by the window looking out on the snow that slowly fell down.

”What are you studying on?” he asked and came behind. You pointed at the grammar and sighed.

”hmm.. let me help you”

You and Yongkwon walked down the street and listened to the Christmas songs that was playing.  You drank some of you Chocolate and looked at the snowflakes landing on your cup. You turned your eyes towards Yongkwon who looked back.

”What?” you asked. He shook his head.

”Just say it” you said quite irritated.

”Don’t you have a boyfriend?”

”Not really” you answered. He looked at you for a while before leading you towards the Church nearby. You followed him into the church wondering what he was doing. He bowed to the priest that was fixing with some candles.

”I was waiting for you. Oh you have someone with you” he said surprised. You bowed and smiled towards the priest.

”He’s been here every year since he was young” the priest said and smiled. You smiled towards Yongkwon and looked at him sitting down by the piano. He smiled at you before starting to play ”Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. He started to sing, and you joined him while looking at him playing.

”Wow impressive! You’re good” he said. You blushed a little while shaking your head. He changed the song to ”All I want for Christmas Is You”. You listened to the play and heard him humming to the song. You smiled and closed your eyes.

”All I want for Christmas is you” you sang. You opened your eyes and looked at him, meeting his eyes. He kept on playing even though he still looked at you. A glimpse in his eyes was seen, something that made your butterflies coming alive.

”Keep on singing”, he said and you did what he told you. You looked at him while singing your heart out in the Church. You ended the song with him clapping his hands and hugging you. You laughed and pushed his hands away from the piano, as you started to play ”White Christmas”.

”It’s your turn, but I want you to sing in Korean”

He started singing and you listened to his voice with tears slowly falling down. This was the best Christmas you could ever ask for. You had been missing this guy for months, and here he was beside you singing with a smile on his lips.

”I had a fun time today” he said as he walked down the aisle towards the door.

”Me too, It was a beautiful Christmas” you said when the priest stopped you in the door. He looked at you both with a warming smile.

”Merry Christmas! But don’t forget the most important of this day” he said pointing up at the mistletoe. You looked up and then at Yongkwon while blushing. He looked at the priest and then at you for a while.

”It’s tradition, something you must do” he whispered. You nodded your head as he walked closer towards you. You looked into his eyes as he leaned forward. The moment you felt his lips on yours, you kissed him in a way you didn’t know yourself. All you knew was that this kiss was the first one and also the best one. He touched your hand and embraced your fingers together. He kissed your nose before you both laughed.

”A beautiful Christmas couple. A miracle” the priest said before leaving. You blushed and walked out together with Yongkwon, just not separated, but even closer. You held hands as you walked down the road.

Indeed it was a Christmas miracle. You met your idol and crush in a Coffee Shop and spent your Christmas Eve with him and ended it with a kiss. You thought about it and giggled.

”Will I see you tomorrow? And after tomorrow?” he asked as you said goodbye.

”You will see me as often as you want.”

”You’re my Christmas miracle” he whispered before disappearing. You looked after him and felt your heart exploding.
