The pleasure of preparation. The pleasure of architecture. The pleasure of space and stillness. Thank you to the Zen Shed for a lovely morning. My practice, Guy’s practice, watched over by Nandi and the Woo 🐮 🦋💚🦋 #shashaspiritledlife #yogaeveryday #yogasequencing #workshopprep #yogaprep #nandi #shiva #gong #architecture #greatview #stillness #thezenshed (at The Zen Shed UK) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn62VNxFJz4/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=p9xwi63bskl1

BACK BEND PREP - Puppy pose has been a shoulder life saver for me, aiding mobility and flexibility. As I extend my arms forward I'm conscious of their external rotation, taking the strength into the shoulder blades so as not to collapse in the chest. And as I pulse up I'm strongly engaging my abdominal muscles to support my lower back, pulsing down I'm engaging my mid back muscles. When I finally settle down into the asana, I then look to create more space in my armpits by extending through to my finger tips. Back bending has definitely improved since taking this little legend on! #yoga #yogapractice #yogaeverydamnday #yogaprep #body #movement #expression #backbending #function #yogawithabiadams #oolongyoga #woodfordgreen #essex

FAQ, Preparation for class.
Q: What should I expect from a yoga class? A: Nothing. Any expectation, even the expectation of peace, brings restlessness. The tension has to go. I want you to come to class with a clear mind so that everything you experience during a class fullfils you, whatsoever it is. Every class is different. From beginner to intermediate student, to instructor.
Q:What Should I Wear? A: Loose, but fitting, comfortable clothes. Don’t make the mistake of wearing giant clothes, as your instructor needs to evaluate your body in the different poses in order to help you alter any position. Also, women should wear a well-fitted sports bra, to give you support but not cause discomfort or pinching.
Q: Do I Fast to Prepare for a Yoga Class A: Fasting is not necessary. I ask that you come to class with a fairly empty stomach. Generally one can consider the stomach empty two hours after eating. If you have to eat, try a light meal like a protein shake or a fruit or green salad, so you won’t feel too full. If you take a class first thing in the morning, then you can breakfast after class. However, be certain to have a big glass of water prior to leaving for the class. You don’t want to get dehydrated.
Preperation
Arrive on time. This is very important.
Bring a towel. Depending how much you exert yourself, you may sweat a lot.Limit the use of scented lotions, perfumes and cologne
Dress comfortably. Loose fitting clothes to permit the freedom of movement however avoid wearing overly baggy garments
Inform the Instructor about injuries - This is useful information for the instructor who may then suggest modifications for particular yoga poses and positions.
Please observe basic hygiene when attending a yoga class.
During a class do rest when necessary, to work at your individual level and to respect your body’s current physical state.
Know your limits
Remember, Yoga is not a competitive sport. It is and a good physical, mental and emotional regimen, done within the limits of what your body and mind are capable of taking on any specific day. Some people tend to compare their performance with those of others and push themselves too hard, imprudently assuming that exercise is of no use unless it hurts. On the contrary, Yoga teaches us that a tender and gentle attitude toward oneself is far more beneficial to pushing, punishing or driving yourself to the limits.
