Chapter 2: Convalescence

The road to Boston isn't really safe for just a single person.

When it stopped to reload, Somane took advantage of it to come back and shoot multiple times at it. The monster rolled to the ground in pain, before ceasing to move entirely as Somane didn't leave him out of their view. When they were sure it was really dead, they left out a sigh of relief.

Wait, where's the other one ?!

The hit they took to their head was the answer they received. The world started to blur as their body was projected from the hit onto the stone border. The sole survivor didn't hear a crack, but they for sure felt their ribs crashing into their internal organs. As they looked up with difficulty, they saw the second hulk hunching onto them, its remaining hand ready to grip on them.

“Stupid puny human. I'm going to crush you and drink your blood.”

I've wrote a lot lately, but had a hard couple of days, so I didn't felt like sharing (until today!). So here's a part of Chap2 Convalescence:

TW: Mention of "pestilence"/vermin

They tried to calm their rapidly increasing heart beat as they saw train remains from afar. Like the cars, they weren't of any use anymore, relics of a time where traveling was as easy as buying a ticket. The first wagon that they passed was opened, probably emptied from a good century or two. The rest of it was overturned on the side, like a dead beast whose corpse have been ripped apart by deseperate survivors searching for supplies. Flashbacks of a sudden bright white and red light reflected in the sole survivor's eyes. The abrupt sound of scraped metal made them jump, and a feral emerged from the waggon, reminding them of a putrid fly popping out from a rotten body. The superposition of the images in their mind made them realise something horrible that should have been obvious to them from the beginning: Ghouls used to be people like them. Perhaps even people of their time. People they used to know.

My favorite thing lately is the freedom that my OC bring me in my writting. Usually I'm super stiff in trying to write characters in fandoms as "accurate" as possible, because my biggest fear is to do OOC. My OC is great because I don't really have to overthink anything, they basically write themselves xD Those are the good days, where you just have to let the character "naturally" react and just "record them doing shit" lol
