Deep Mushroom for Das, Arbor Blessing + Rashvine for Yevren?
Deep Mushroom :: What act does your character consider morally foul but practically necessary? Does your character condone morally foul actions for practicalityâs or necessityâs sake at all?
To him, the entire Inquisition smacks of that, tbh. He welcomes the chance to do some good and get things done, but thereâs always this voice in the back of his head yelling at him that âthis shitâs fucked upâ... Leliana is very âknives in the darkâ blackmail&stab-happy and pretty unapologetic about it, Cullen just seems to love sending troops all over the place to intimidate the local leaders and Josie will casually discuss the destruction of lives, marriages and careers with the sweetest smile on her face. Itâs absolutely frightening at times. Das can get behind âharsh times require harsh measuresâ, to an extent, but his moral flexibility has its bounds - and he starts thinking about the logistics and the best strategies for disbanding the Inquisition as soon as Corey is dealt with.
...
Arbor Blessing :: What is the happiest ending you can think of for your character?
Sheâs cured and gets to continue her research of the Blight, but with a different focus. She has her own house, with a lab and a study and a big garden. Sheâs got a bunch of dogs. In the best possible world, Das is there with her. Sheâs not sure if she wants kids. But she would probably be happier without them.
Rashvine :: Who/what is the one thing or person your character simply cannot stand?
A lot of the Wardens stationed at the Peak were of the more ruthless sort. She never liked such types much.
She hates distractions when sheâs working. (Something Das had to learn quite early on.)
The Templars. Not necessarily the men and women themselves (she hates quite a few of them but she does judge them on a strictly individual basis), but certainly the Order and everything it represents.Â
The higher-ups at Weisshaupt.

Dear Yevren,
As you rightly suspected, the Architectâs research proved most useful. The documents delivered by Ser Arainai hold what I believe to be a potential solution to our problem. Itâs a matter of fine-tuning what we already have. It will involve blood magic, however, an area I am no expert in, nor do I wish to be. There are no blood mages in Tevinter Iâd trust with this, either. I believe there are people at the Soldierâs Peak better qualified to wrap this project up.
Enclosed are the notes on my findings so far and a recipe for a potion that should keep the taint at bay, if administered regularly. The rest, Iâm afraid, is in your hands.
Awaiting your reply, Dorian Pavus.
Dorian didnât disappoint. His potion had indeed pushed the taint in Silas Marraâs system back. But it had to be administered daily and it left the patient tired, nauseated, muddled - and with inflamed joints. It was not a plausible long-term solution. That would require more time - and more unsavoury methods. Fortunately, some members of the research team at the Soldierâs Peak were well-versed in those. âSet out now,â Yevren had written in her brief reply to Dorian Pavus. âWork with what you have, it will buy some time. Iâll get back to you as soon as I have something to give you. Zevran will tell you all you need to know.â
That had been well over two weeks ago. Yevren hadnât slept properly since then â and sheâd hardly slept at all for the past few days. The summer was rolling by outside the infirmary windows and she barely even knew it. She was running on Rivaini coffee, invigorating spells and lyrium potions and she was beginning to feel the strain. Her brain felt out of sync with her surroundings, either a step ahead or lagging a heartbeat behind. Everything around her looked afloat and dimensionless, distorted through that sleep-deprived haze smothering her waking mind. But she wasnât getting any rest until Marra either stirred awake â or drew his final breath.
OC voice claims (and accents)
OK, so almost none of the voice claims matches the accent Iâve given whatever OC theyâre a voice claim for. Some of them are not even native English speakers. *shrugs* ---
Takeshi Kaneshiro for Das Davarris.
Just imagine THAT voice - and thick Scouse. (I realize how that might be difficult.) (Yep, Denerim elves talk like Scousers in my world state. Deal with it. :-)) Das speaks fast (and a LOT) and he is expressive: his tone, pitch, volume and tempo of speech shift often. But he rarely gets overbearingly, unpleasantly loud. (Battles, other high-adrenaline situations - or taunt exchanges - are a different story, though.) He has a rich vocabulary and he uses it as he sees fit. His language is playful, metaphor-heavy and quirky - because thatâs just how he is. There are some echoes of Denerim alienage slang in many of his curses and odd word choices, though.
VladimĂr JavorskĂ˝ for Lennan Tabris.
Lennanâs accent is barely there most of the time. But he will often slip right back into it when talking with Arana or other Denerim elves. While travelling, he and Ara have heard the question âWhat language is that?â more than once - and theyâve heard it from others in their party as well.
Lenn is always calm and soft-spoken, but heâs got a way of making his voice heard. Something about his tone and delivery makes people shut up and listen. But if need be, his voice can carry extremely well and surprisingly far, with just the smallest adjustment to his pitch and volume. âSmallestâ is the key word here - heâs found out early enough that âcalm and quietâ works best with most people, whether he aims to persuade--or intimidate.
Dylan Moran for Keenan Hawke.
Well, one 100% match at least, voice and accent and manner of speech.
And the general attitude as well. He never sounds completely sober and he never sounds terribly drunk, he *always* sounds half-drunk or kinda drunk, whether heâs been sober for days or whether heâs so arseholed heâs rendered himself virtually blind and legless. And, sadly, a lot of the time he actually IS kinda drunk... (But you can usually tell how drunk he really is. His delivery doesnât change much, but the more he drinks, the less coherent he gets. With enough booze in his system, he ceases to make any fucking sense whatsoever. That - and he canât stand up.)
Paul McGann for Sheva Isanan.
Isanans are a wild mix of influences, but as far as accents go, I imagine them with Arabic ones. (Ironically, McGann is the first actual Scouser on this voice claim list. Ah well.) Sevarras is young and a bit of a snobbish twat - and it shows in his speech. His volume is always controlled and his tone is always subtle. And though he does have a bit of an accent, his grammar is flawless and his vocabulary is broad, rich and on par with most Circle scholars. He knows all the big, intimidating words and he WILL flaunt them at you. He does like to show off heâs well-read and well-educated.
Chris Walken for Ranna Lavellan.
Young Walken is Rannaâs face claim, sort of, so it would be a shame not to have Ranna sound like that as well. Ranna Lavellan does not have an American accent, obviously. Lavellans sound mostly Scottish. Because I have a thing for those kinds of British accents. Ranna's accent is probably a tad lighter and more mixed, partly because he travels a lot. (If youâre now stuck with Walkenâs voice speaking in a vaguely Scottish accent in your head, youâre welcome.) When Ranna speaks, he sounds confident, easy-going and warm - never intimidating. Thereâs always a hint of a smile and just the tiniest bit of cockiness in his tone. Like most of my characters, he is well-read, but, much like Lenn, he prefers to make himself easily understood.Â
Alexander Veljanov for Fennas Lavellan.
Speaking and singing voice both. (Fennas is one of the best singers in the clan.) Regarding the accent, listen to Kevin McKidd to get the idea. Fennas is a man of few words. He doesnât raise his voice unless he really needs it to carry far. Heâs a big guy with a scary glare. He doesnât even need to speak, let alone shout, to get peopleâs attention or scare the living daylights out of them. He is generally straightforward, honest - and brief.
Rosario Dawson for Yevren.
Just...with a generic southern English accent.
Yevren speaks quietly and fast - and she doesnât always bother with articulating clearly. If she got a copper for every time people asked her to ârepeat that, pleaseâ, she could buy the entire Grand Cathedral with the Divine still in it. She is a nerd who spends most of her time either in books or with other like-minded nerds - and she always speaks like a scholar would speak to another fellow academic - no matter whom sheâs talking to. If you want her to speak the laymanâs Common, you have to explicitly ask her to. (And it may turn out to be a bit of a struggle for her at times.)
Emma Thompson for Salshira Lavellan.
I imagine a somewhat deeper, but even more importantly, mature voice for Sal. She sounds a couple of decades older than she looks. Emma Thompsonâs voice is pretty much how Iâd want her to sound if I had MY way...:-) I even found a clip of her doing a bit of Scottish accent so she sounds like a proper Lavellan. :-)Â Salshira looks like a sweet bean and yeah, she is a huge geek (more gifted and way geekier than Ranna) - but sheâs a very observant, sarcastic, no-nonsense kind of girl. And you can hear that undercurrent in her voice and tone. Sheâs very eloquent but pretty direct in her choice of words. If she slips into metaphors and euphemisms, it is usually for ironyâs sake. :-) I used to h/c her very differently when I made her, but she has changed a LOT since then. And I like her much better now.
