PSA: Javascript Blockers for Firefox
One of the nice side effects of managing Javascript usage is that selectively whitelisting certain domains allows you to at least ‘thin down’ the amount of ads you get without necessarily needing to use an adblocker.
That being said, I know one thing people complain about when using NoScript is that it can be cumbersome to get the whitelisting done just right, since it blocks by default. For Tumblr users who want to use Tumblr functionally you only need to whitelist tumblr.com and leave everything else blocked. You can if you want whitelist txmblr.com, but I’ve been hearing that doing so causes some ads to get through. (though New Xkit can plug that hole)
Also, for Flight Rising users who want to minimize the adware risk, you can whitelist flightrising.com and then when you need to play Coliseum stuff or games you can Temporarily Allow the IP address 207.58.158.212.
If you would prefer to go the other way around, I found out today about YesScript, which is whitelist-by-default and you maintain a blacklist of sites you don’t want Javascript to be run from. Some of you might find this easier and less laborious while still maintaining some reasonable browser security (as well as cutting down memory usage).
