I’ve been thinking about Van (as I often do) and was wondering what the resident theories on her constant near misses with death are. In season one (beyond the general starvation and plane crash) on THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS she narrowly escaped death (one of which only due to Jackie), and man WHAT DOES THE WILDERNESS HAVE AGAINST HER.
It feels like the second time was literally just because Jackie had to stick around and thus was protected (she had to be the first sacrifice whatever whatever) but the other two her survival is either out of sheer stubbornness or something else, because like everything in this show it’s super weird.
So I was wondering, is it that the wilderness is coming at her and idk why or is the wilderness protecting her, because she’s clearly being kept alive by SOMETHING beyond her own sheer stubbornness.
Does she need to have these experiences to succumb to their little tree cult? Is the wilderness trying to get rid of her? Is the wilderness trying to bring her to the brink of death? Is the wilderness protecting her? I DONT KNOW AND ID QUITE LIKE TO.
Also this got me thinking about her cancer. Idk how it would be connected but it definitely is.
