Signalis is a game that I first played at the very start of January and it has stuck with me ever since.
Non-Spoiler - 10/10 I absolutely adore this game, and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes survival horror, sci-fi, or anything cosmic horror related. My advice is to go into it blind and take your time with the game as it is well worth your time.
Spoiler Review - When I first picked up the game I was vaguely aware of the plot and what the gameplay was like. I don't know what I was expecting, but what I got was a masterpiece in storytelling and world building. The non-linear/euclidean plot had me mesmerized throughout. LSTR's story from the beginning to the multiple endings fascinated me. I cried multiple times throughout the game, especially the dance scene during ACT II after realizing that LSTER and Ariane could never get a happy ending. Seeing glimpses into the other characters being forced to suffer through the events taking place, seeing a range from hope, sadness, mourning, and acceptance. The references and inspiration from the King in Yellow help to create moments that stand out even after I 100%'ed the game, that alongside the emotional core left me yearning for any possibility of a happy ending, and has left a mark in my brain that won't be going anytime soon.
I know this is just rambling but I need to put my thoughts down for myself and to give the gift that is this game to others!!

There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless...
After the emotional rollercoaster that was Signalis, I decided to dive headfirst into the genre.
Series Status: Ongoing
Current Progress: Chapter 49/69
Non-Spoiler: A very engaging slice-of-life comedy, that follows Renako Amaori and her journey to reinvent herself in highschool, and her attempts to balance in becoming friends with the popular Mai Ouzuka, and Mai's insistence that they become lovers. It remains light, with great characters, and a decent emotional heart. As a newcomer I would highly recommend, 8/10.
Spoiler: The romance in this is so good! Seeing Renako place down boundries even if it might fall into tropes from time to time felt refreshing even though I didn't have anything to compare it to. The comparison between how both Mai and Renako view their ideal relationship for both friends and lovers, while not groundbreaking, helps land the premise. Despite some of the scenario she finds herself in Renako's agency helps to create a good emotional core for the rest of the story. Her "running away" with Ajisai was wholesome, whilst still creating that warmth I felt that made me want to explore yuri in general. Every potential love interest is compelling and I think would make Renako happy whoever she ends the story with. All in all, this was a great start for me as my first full step into yuri.
Again sorry if this still feels rambley I'm still getting used to actually write out my thoughts on media I like, so expect it to get better as I continue to read!
