Sweater Weather (outfit + scene)
Today was the day; her first real Hogsmeade date with Charlie Weasley. Alice studied her reflection in the dormitory mirror, tugging at the forest green sleeves of her oversized knitted sweater until they pooled just right at her wrists. The sweater paired well with her jeans and combat boots; casual, but deliberate. She fastened the moon crescent earrings from the Celestial Ball, a tangible reminder of the night everything had shifted between them. The bracelet she'd bought with Simon during their visit to St-Tropez last summer with Andre caught the light as she adjusted her braid, securing it with her green hair band. With a steadying breath, she grabbed her handbag and climbed the stairs to the common room.
At the top of the stairs, she stopped short. Simon was stretched across one of the couches, nose buried in a book. She'd long since stopped being surprised to find him in the Ravenclaw common room; two months into their friendship during first year, his constant presence had become unremarkable. Even the rest of Ravenclaw didn't care; he could answer that damn knocker's riddles as well as any of them.
"Heading to your Hogsmeade date with Weasley?" Simon asked without looking up, his own matching bracelet visible beneath his sleeve.
"Yesโฆ" Alice shifted her weight, eyes darting toward the exit. "I don't know why I'm so nervous. It doesn't make any senseโฆ I've already kissed him, for Merlin's sake."
Simon glanced up, his gaze assessing. "Maybe because you've never been alone together as a couple?" He paused, eyes traveling over her outfit. "Not to sound too much like Andre, but aren't you wearing a lot of green for a date with a Gryffindor?"
Alice turned toward the door, voice deliberately light. "Andre says it brings out my eyes."
Something in his tone made her turn back. That look again, the same one from her grandmother's ball.
"Alice!" Rowan's voice rang out from the common room entrance. "Your boyfriend is waiting!"
"Go," Simon said, returning to his book. "Your prince charming awaits."
Alice held his gaze for a moment longer before shaking her head and heading for the door.
