ramblings under the readmore
there are a lot of narrative driven imagery in this animation and i figured id talk about it bc it makes little sense otherwise. the overall narrative, that i've labeled cautiously as the rynxgate au (it started as just a fan interpretation but goddamnit it might as well be an au), details the devil's slow emergence and development.
though it had existed for many years prior, the devil made its first appearance in 2017 as rynx, gravitating around evan and setting its eyes on the "angel".
but it wasn't until "spawn!" in 2025 that it was given a physical form, taking on the visual of the green coat, with "spawn a new face on my head". literally.
then in "miss melancholy", things changed. a split was created between evan and the devil set within their approach with the "angel". chasing false idols (the fuckass robot) and reaffirming their relationship with the "angel" respectively.
"this one's for me" cemented the concept of permanent change and with change comes some form of extinction. evan burns down everything, including the meadow that represents his solace. in a cynical perspective, this is perceived as starting anew, free from his past self, his younger reflection.
somewhere in the chaos, there's a cry for help (the flare present in TOFM), and in the end, when everything is barren, the "angel" arrives.
then "breathe".
this particular animation riffs off the previous installation "this one's for me" where the peace is burned to the ground and evan is on a warpath to destroy everything. including the "angel". the last piece.
he travels through a chapel. red, the color representing himself, floods the scenery because this is his story. and he does find the "angel". ironically, the "angel" gives itself away (maybe knowing its fate), but the devil also emerges.
a confrontation occurs and, tormented with past memories (flashbacks alluding to the meadow, to them, to everything), evan changes.
he and the devil become the same, leaning to the "angel", but the "angel" has made itself vulnerable and it flees.
evan chases after it, not wanting to hunt it down but rather communicate. and that's where it leaves off.
