The Torture Never Stops
Finally got around to listening to the original version (on YCDTOSA, vol 4). It is good! Good hard hypnotic beat, great guitars. I always loved the album version (on “Zoot Allures,” 1975). This original is also from ‘75, but with vocals by Captain Beefheart! It is a very different version (also no moaning, for instance). Just much more of a driving fun “rock song”. Just makes you happy. (I did need that, this otherwise slow, dull, Sunday).

The first (and, in my opinion, maybe the best) of the six two-disc volumes of Frank Zappa's You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore series, and maybe one of the strongest albums in Zappa's catalog as a whole. No one else quite did "live albums" the way Zappa did live albums.
